When I got my Numark Ns6 my 5 year old computer was within the specifications for running my Serato software but having the “Media Center Edition” snubbed the capabilities to run it. All of my files were burned in with windows media lossless, it wont play a one. So I tried burning a cd in on the mp3 setting and that worked, but after loading the third and fourth deck with tracks it again was too much for the system and it failed to play, just stopped dead. Long story short I think your computer is to blame. Tracktor looks like it is even more demanding of resources than Serato and I couldn’t find a ghz. specification for core duo, but with a pentium 4 I think it was 2.4ghz Hope this helps

D-Jam, check out some JBL LSR 2328P’s they look pretty sweet for $350. OOps maybe some used ones would be in the price range.

Convenience of on-line shopping is great! But I’m still old school audiophile and like the links, artwork, about the artist and sometimes lyrics that you get with a full album and the hard copy of the disk itself for retrieval at any time in case your computer dies or worse.

outside is 89 degrees, inside is 78, under laptop 72 degrees, inside desktop tower is 64.4. Behind me are JBL L100’s two sets of JBL 4312c’s and some paradigms for surround for watching movies.

windows media player 10 works good for me it groups albums together and even russian cd’s with special characters are recognized. I wish that the message box that says “an update for media player is available would you like to upgrade?” would also give me the option to “don’t ask again” so i continue to say no. itunes really is a pain when it comes to grouping albums. my funds are limited as most of everyone else but I’d like to install windows on this apple but don’t know if I’d be able to install media player 10 version. so before you spend on beatunes try media player 10

i,ve been looking also at the controllers/mixers the denon did seem cramped but good build quality. numark ns7 was too big and effects were an option and a separate unit. but the ns6 is the bomb! but eventually when the 4 channel video/audio mixer comes out you,ll want that too. numark does have a two channel audio/video mixer for about 1grand. i,m a newbe so do your homework before you buy. check out numark ns6 for sure!
