Lots of orchestral sounds you got going there! That’s something new to me 🙂

I recently bought a Griffin splitter cable as a backup for whenever my Reloop Mixage IE would break down during a party.
However I can’t get it to work with Traktor Pro version 1.something

I assumed that in Traktor Pro it would be possible to split outputs but apparently there isn’t. Does anyone have suggestions for a workaround, or was this just bad decision-making on my part?
Would it work in Traktor 2 for instance? Thanks for your advice

Apart from props, clothing by itself can already be a signature.
Think of 2manydj’s’ tuxedo’s, Afrojack’s hoodie, Boys Noize’s baseball cap etc.

Played keyboards for about 8 years. Lost most of the agility in my fingers, but I’m still able to play some chords.
My teacher always stimulated me to build my own presets, arrangements and such which got me interested in (producing) electronic music. And it taught me how to play drums using plastic keys, haha!

Sounds nice! Sure you’ll rock the party with these tunes. I’d like to play b2b with you, I think it would work out 🙂

I said filter but I use the EQ knobs. Hardly use the filters since they sound too polished to me

Take a browse through this website, http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/
Divind music into separate genres is somewhat subjective but at least this site gives you an idea how certain styles came to be.

Moreover, those basslines from two different tracks even clash together making your mix sound muddy.
I always filter out most of the bass of the track that I’m going to drop, bringing it up gradually during the mix.

I agree on the fact that learning to produce is a tough process. I got started over a year ago using Reason, felt disappointed oh-so-many times about the sound quality (the sound either being to harsh, lacking punchiness, not enough bass or too much of it etc etc) and composition. Although the end product still sounds like crap, I feel a lot more comfortable working with the software and I have a better idea what I’m doing now.

If you would like to get started using Reason, http://www.boyinaband.com is a good site to start. It has many videos on creating a track in a certain genre in a couple of days, e.g. 7 day dubstep tutorial, 7 day electro tutorial etc. It taught me the basics on sound synthesis, composition and mixing / mastering.

exactly! I just heard your mix but I guess it will do the trick playing at a college house party.
(ok I’m not totally aware what hot and what’s not in US college but ok)
Keep in mind, as long as YOU enjoy the music you’re playing and you can transfer that energy the crowd will dig it for sure!

Thanks! Coming Friday there’s a gig waiting for me in Amsterdam.. it’s gonna be big to my standards hehe..
Although they’re expecting electro mostly I’m sure to cram in some moombah, trap, dnb and other styles just to tease them 🙂
    Big up!

LOL @ half price hookahs 🙂
guess you pulled it off nicely, hope you exported it into a CMYK format which can be used for commercial print or else the coulours will be different from expectation.

I currently use Inkscape for my designs as it’s more similar to Illustrator which I was used to work with.
Should give Gimp a try as well, both are freeware so worth a try.

I hate it, and in cases I did I was sort of drunk and the words didn’t come out as I wanted (being native Dutch speaker trying to drop some dope lines in English was harder than I thought).
If you really want to, better find an MC who wants to do the talking for you. Or prepare one of your friends to MC for you (which is sometimes appreciated if you’re into dnb or dubstep). Or just forget about it.
