ParticipantThanks everybody for the advice. I just put down my first Pop demo last night. Check it out and give honest feedback please.
Craig
ParticipantAwesome. Thanks for the reply and explanation. This defiantly helps.

ParticipantThanks for the reply Dj Vintage.
I verified with my computers website and it is a headphone/mic combo. The tiny icon next to the port reflects that as well. I do have a TS-jack to one stereo mini-jack cable.
I don’t NEED to use the booth out, it’s just the only output my TS-jack to one stereo mini-jack cable supports.
I will try the Audacity test later.Craig
ParticipantFunny you should say that Dj Hessler; my first gig WAS for my best friend/Dj mentor. I guess I was under the impression that you need to establish yourself in the scene first be fore you can start demanding a payout.
So then I ask, what’s a good starting price? I think I’m worth a million, but I’m sure I’m the only one who feels that way.

ParticipantThanks folks! I now know, what I should do.
Craig
ParticipantOh, I feel pretty good about playing live; even after my one gig.

ParticipantWhen I first started buying vinyl I had no clue what I was doing. After a few years I had something like 4 dance singles, 5 DnB, 3 House, 5 Hip-Hop…you get the drift.
Many years later when I decided to get serious with it, I found that Breakbeat was my genre. I love messing with other styles like Hardcore, Euro Dance, DnB, Dubstep and Hard Trance. But if you were to scan my collection, you’d see the Breakbeat is the clear winner.

ParticipantMy inspiration is two-fold. I remember going to live shows (Lords of Acid specifically) back in the day and just loving the opening DJ’s. How they could make the music feel like one 60 minute song was just amazing to me.
Also Minneapolis used to have some great DJ’s on the radio that I fell in love with. I would hang out with friends and listen and educate them on techno every Friday and Saturday night. Sadly the radio stations are gone or have changed, but the DJ’s are still reppin’ Minneapolis.

ParticipantDubstep has it’s place here in Minneapolis. You can usually find a all/mostly all dubstep DJ/live act night every couple of weeks around here.
As for myself, I spin breakbeat, but I’m always looking for tracks that have that dubstep wobble in them.
