ParticipantI play keys and well of course turntables. Started with cello in grade school followed by sax, alto and tenor for a few years till after 9th grade when I quit all music for sports (dumb). It wasn’t till I started djing in 2001 when I wanted to produce and so the love of keys and piano came to be. I do play the keys live for my sets as well as do instrumental style of scratching. Have payed in a dnb band but run solo again these days.

ParticipantYeh I think I’ve been just using the term VJ as an umbrella term (not the best I guess) so I do apologize for that. I do like visual operator better. haha. But I did not add a visual backdrop for that show. I was just doing my dj set for that but yeh it was just some simple led par cans and 2 mac250 lights. Lol but to the contrary this is exactly what I would want to hear and thank you for telling it like it is. As the gigs go I was just going to focus on the visual backdrop, unique videos, third-party videos, live feed and such for the specific groups. In this case it would just be for my neighbor’s band and Milos. For the school gigs there are some wall mounted led screens that can be used as well. But for the band I did not get much info yet on the venues, mainly due to rain cutting our conversation short.
Do you have a ball park estimate range from “only do one little part and everything else has to be done by somebody else,” to “If I can make the visual backdrops, fixture lighting, moving lights, flower lights and lasers for a big stage show via a huge DMX controller,” that would be fair? And thank you again for all your help.DJ? Spiral

This was my first full fledge concert planned from the ground up and we were able to raise over $1000 for charity (The V foundation & SOS Children’s villages international).
Haha I see myself in the hat hidden from my screen 🙂

I agree with this 100 fold. Lemur is one of my go to apps. Worth every bit of the 50 bucks for the app. I use it for ableton with a custom mapping I made, which I am still tweaking with each gig. When it is ready I will put it up for people to download as well as my ableton session file.

And as far as I know, second hand ones are few and far between. Needless to say I would propably not buy a second hand condenser mic unless I was totally sure about the source.
Greetinx,
C.Haha I definitely missed that one. Hmmmm, check out also the sterling audio st55. Good mic for in the 150-200 range. But if you can save some more “pennies,” go with my first choice.

ParticipantCheck out the electro voice re20. Standard in radio broadcast. And doubles as a killer kick drum/instrument mic

ParticipantNice good to hear! 🙂

ParticipantThats a pretty nice deal there. Although I would have done it just for the vinyl (bit of a vinyl junkie). I would also recommend the vestax pdx-2000 if and when you want to upgrade them. I have techs and vestax.

Participant^^Definitely agree. Although have not heard the M-audio’s. But I have the KRK Rokit 10s sub. Delicious.

ParticipantFigured I’d finally make my first post to answer your question or point you in the right direction. There are two things that you can try. First and this might not be the best option or even work, but you can just get those inexpensive 1/4in to rca adaptors that you would find at radio shack or most musical gear stores (sam ash, guitar center, etc.). And then hope that whatever recording software you are using can boost the gain up enough (as well as the preamps in the focusrite). However you would still need to add an eq curve to the recording similar to the riaa eq curve set in most phono preamps. Or option 2, which is more recommended. Get yourself a phono preamp, fairly inexpensive (I have 2 BBE phono preamps for my decks which are awesome and got them cheap to boot, $20-30 on ebay a piece), one extra rca-1/4in cable or rca cable/quarter inch adaptor combo. Should work like a charm.
