I appreciate the insight from everyone, and I’m not disagreeing with everyone, just asking more questions. Wouldn’t the genre of music be a factor as well? I’m not really mixing much pop. I feel that in electronic music, the vocals take less importance than lead vox with other genres. Also, couldn’t we overcome these issues with proper mixing? I think that DJs could be missing out on great mixing opportunities if they just experiment with making vocals blend right.

Hey! Thanks for the reply. And good to know about demo lengths. I’m not really sure If I should call this a demo then I guess, but I just kinda gave it that label since I might be referring potential party hosts to this mix for now.

There’s a few reasons why I have this kinda weird collection of different genres. I’ve just started learning to DJ this summer (been a musician all my life) and I really don’t have a specific genre that is my favorite yet or one that I really want to get good at mixing. Also I’ve played at a couple of parties so far at my college and they typical just want to hear their favorite music, luckily I go to a college where dubstep and electro is familiar to them, but just top charts so far. So I kinda just play a little of anything. Lastly, I’m broke and can’t buy music at the moment so I just mixed what I had 🙂
Thanks so much for the comments, it gives me great motivation to keep me going!
