ParticipantYou must also shutt off the autogain. Before i’m going to mix i calibrate all the tracks with a software V.U meter to the same level (with the gain) In my case VDJ can also remember the gain adjustments i made earlier om the tracks.

Its a very friendly software ,it hides nothing ,one click on config & u see each & everything & the language is simple
I just wondering : is the LE version of VDJ not too limited in available options for you ? If you use the VDJ 7 Pro Full version you have all the options of VDJ available. I also say “hats off to vdj ,I love playing on it”. And Tractor looks to me also not user friendly at all.

ParticipantMy 1st experiences with digital (after being a analoge vinyl Dj), was to make “cut & paste” mixtapes in Wave format with Cool Edit Pro.
After that i’ve experimented with DSS Dj, Mixx, AtomixMP3 (the ancestor of VirtualDJ), eJay DJMixStation (the old name of VirtualDJ Home), but these programs i find it very difficult to mix with. When i started with VDJ 5.07, it appeares to me that this is the Dj software i could more easier work with.
Now a few years later i’ve upgraded my VDJ 5.07 into VDJ 7 Pro Full with a Hercules Dj 4Set controller.I’m very happy to work with this software, and i find i very userfriendly. My experience is that VDJ is a very solid program to Dj with. I really don’t understand why people claim that “Traktor” seems to be more professional than VDJ ?
As i see the layout of a Traktor screen, i looks to me more complex to use and also not user friendly at all

ParticipantI think you must have to show your respects to the artists who’s tracks you’re mixing with in your mix.
When i upload a mix online i always include a tracklist.
I have to agree with Emma; it’s a matter of principle that you always do that.As a radio Dj (U.S.A & Europe) i have to provide tracklists along with my Dj sets to the station.
Based on my tracklists the artists will get properly paid for their royalties when their tracks have airplayed.January 21, 2012 at 8:28 pm in reply to: A 10 minute rant ALL DJs/Producers should listen to. [[Mature Content]] #13129Dj Neonglass
Participantl also agree with D.J.Manhattan ; he has some good arguments. It’s all about the music & the enjoying of it.
But there be alway’s “vinylpurists” (have Dj’ed myself with vinyl in the past). who are claiming that digital a Dj with a controller is a “fake Dj”. (let them be, i should say)Dj Neonglass

My first mixtape (with vinyl) i made in 1978 by recording my set on a big reeel taperecorder.
Also made mashups with that big reeel taperecorder by cutting & pasting the audiotape by hand, with a special press. Before that recording i had practising mixing vinyl for almost a year.
(But i have to do it 8 times over & over again, till i was finally 98 % satisfied about my mix)Later with a cassette recorder i began to create customised pause button mixes ,as i realised that certain records could be made more suitable for the dance floor, if they when given a slight twist of extension.
All these mixtapes where broadcasted on FM by our Illegal Radio station.
Looking back, i’m glad that i’ve quit Dj-ing with vinyl & CD & switched over to digital.
(and i never want to go “back” again)January 20, 2012 at 7:19 pm in reply to: Dj Neonglass (NL) – BIENVENIDO 2012 ! Vol 01 (Latin House) #13084Dj Neonglass
ParticipantYou right about the variation in music. 🙂 But i’ll try to keep the mix in one music genre as i can.
e.g If i should make a Trance mix; i variate with Trance Sub genres, but i’ll keep the mix in that genre.
I make all my mixes 1 hour long, because they gonna be all broadcasted on radio, & my program has an duration of 1 hour.January 20, 2012 at 6:29 pm in reply to: Dj Neonglass (NL) – BIENVENIDO 2012 ! Vol 01 (Latin House) #1002661Dj Neonglass
ParticipantD.J.Manhattan, thanks for your comment on my mix. 🙂 Next mix i’ll try to variate the type of beats along the mix.

ParticipantThanks Phil,
I’m now following your digital Dj video course. Very interesting stuff, i really learned more than watching Youtube tuturials about this subject. You have the abelity to explain the matters very clear, without coming “too technical”I sure can recommend this course for all you digital Dj’s out there, it saves you a lot of time & struggle.

ParticipantWhen i make a long mix & i listen it back and discover a tiny inperfection; i’m gonna change order of the tracks @ the point of the inperfection of the mix. And record the whole mix over again, till i.m satisfied about the end result. It’s also an learning process,to gain more experience as Dj.

ParticipantI made his first steps in mixing on age 14 (1977).
i was “working” with some friends every friday evening on a Drive-inn disco, called “Disco Skylab” in a former youthcentre Called :“Openluchtschool”(O.L.S)”, in The Hague. We also had an illegal F.M Radio station called “Skylab Radio, Skyline Radio,Tempo Radio”. Then i saw in a local disco called “The Marathon” the DJ mix two records together. Fortunately one of my friends knew more about mixing.I started mixing with 2 MARANTZ record players with pitch-control. After 2 years of practising mixing with vinyl, i (16 years old) was asked to play @ Disco’s & Clubs as guest Dj.
(Many Clubs had only an resident “talking Dj” ; compared to “radio Dj” in that time. Mixing was very special)One of mys friends he “worked” in the Drive-inn Disco with is now known as Atlantic Ocean a.k..a DJ Lex van Coeverden (world hit single “Waterfall”)
In 1984 i stopped mixing, so he had time to found my own Neonsign-company & factory. After 24 years not being mixing and DJ-ing, I took some Mixing lessons in youth centre “BAZART” also located on the grounds of the former O.L.S, the place where it in 1977 all began. When I started my mixing lessons, i noticed that there was a lot of changed in the DJ equipment.
I decided to quit mixing with vinyl and go for the new technological tools now like mixing with 2 CD players with pitchcontrol.
Now i’ve passed mixing with Cd’s.Because (especially with selfburned CD’s) the medium Cd appears to be very sensitive about dust & fingers. I was fed up with soundsplops & skip’s who are suddenly
appearing during playing my Dj-set. So i transformed my Cd-collection into Hq mp3’s on a 2 TB HD (thats my “recordbag” now). Now i mix & record everything digital. In digital i can do more with the music then i did in the 70-ties (analogue tape recordings) -
