Thanks for your response. The retailer sold me what I think was a re-conditioned S4, which may not be under warranty. To find this out, the serial number is usually verified with the manufacture to confirm warranty. I bought it from the retailer well over a year ago and it’s difficult to find contact for them, so I’ll have to do some paper chasing to gain their details as it was all an online deal following a faulty DDJ Ergo which proved to be a waste of time. So due to previous dealings with the retailer I doubt they would be able to help – although I will contact them to see what they know, since I’ve had no luck so far and struggling to find a procedure to move on with.
Just seeing if anyone else has had a similar issue with hardware on NI instruments and if anybody can shed any light onto this issue.July 27, 2013 at 3:36 pm in reply to: Traktor S4 Flight case vs Bag? Na, Let's make a homemade one #42622Neil Dee
ParticipantEventually, I found a solution!
It was pricey, but I bought a Fusion workstation bag, used a garden tray big enough the neatly fit the S4,
Made some raised fittings above the edges of the tray with gaff & cardboard, then gaffed a baking tray on top to prevent pressure to the device.
It survived in the hold to Germany – success!
funny that the bag most suited for it was made by Fusion, the name of the festival I played at 🙂

ParticipantHey thanks for this!
I’ve not had chance to look into this yet but thought I’d thank you for suggesting these. I had a quick glimpse and it looks like a decent plan – light weight & durable, perhaps I could dappa up the box with some spray paint and make it look decent too 🙂
I’ll check these out later on if I have chance:

Participant“Not sure what you want. Are you taking your equipment from A to B or are you intent to play soccer with it.”
Thanks for your input. If your unclear about what it is I’m after here, try reading through the description again or the constructive comments of the other x2 replies to help you grasp the concept of this post. A bag is defo not sturdy enough to protect the S4 to it’s full potential. My advice is to expect the unexpected when taking expensive equipment out, you can never be too careful, otherwise I’d have carried it about in a plastic JD sports bag.February 27, 2013 at 4:11 pm in reply to: Traktor S4 Flight case vs Bag? ParticipantCheers. This idea is mainly for portability, as I’ll be travelling long distances on public transport. It has to be as durable as possible also, for the event of a drop, kick or idiot standing on it along with having it put in the hold on gigs abroad. I don’t fly out often but have a gig in germany this year so my idea is having something equally if not as near as possible as durable as a flight case which can be transported comfortably enough to get about with. Long distances with my vinyl box have nearly broke my back, even with wheels and the shock you’d get from putting a traktor flightcase on wheels could damage components and the hard drive of my laptop.
Ideally a flight case would be great but I can’t see myself carrying it far and last year at Fusion fest we travelled 2 hours on public transport to get to the nearest location we could be for our lift to the event. Tour buses are out of the equation for me unfortunately so I get about on public transport.
My ideas are still forming though, when I have a constructed plan I’ll let you know how I get onFebruary 27, 2013 at 4:02 pm in reply to: Traktor S4 Flight case vs Bag? Na, Let's make a homemade one #37287Neil Dee
ParticipantCheers for yr input. I agree, the look is great for a flightcase but I suppose my main issue is portability when it comes to travelling on public transport. I’m playing Fusion festival in Germany this June and although a flight case would be most practical to go in the hold (don’t think a bag/flightcase will fit as hand luggage) I will struggle when I arrive and use public transport to get to Berlin where our lift to the festival will be. Flying from Glasgow too, so many forms of public transport are involved in my general missions.
I might get a flightcase but having a sturdy case which can be fitted into a bag is most practical to get about with. Stands also make it more flexible when dealing with limited space available in DJ booths, where I know a lot of set ups that wouldn’t have room for such things.
I’d hope that the right solution to creating an inner case for a bag would make it strong enough to survive the airlines. Perspex will probably be too heavy yr right, but I’m sure that the right solution to a case solid enough to survive heavy falls/idiots carrying it for you or piss heads standing on it would be the best option for me. Ideally, a flight case within a bag but I can’t visualize that working, yet!Neil Dee
ParticipantHey cheers! Whoalla, I used tag & rename to batch tag all files and I’m onto a winner! Now to tag my DNB collection and get on the road again 🙂 So much better using traktor/digital methods than CDs at events taking requests (weddings/functions) it means you have bags of time to stay relaxed enough/approachable for people wanting to take requests, who may book u based on yr attitude/performance on the night. CDs have left a leeway of about less than a minute to interact before it’s vital to have a track loaded ready for play. It was great and so much more flexible to search for tracks at yr finger tips – I love it when stuff works!
thanks for yr input mate, very helpful 🙂Neil Dee
ParticipantHey cheers! If there is no way of searching by file name I’ll give that a go. It’s pretty ridiculous of NI if they didn’t make it possible to search by filename I think. If anyone else knows if it’s possible to search the filename field in traktor please let me know. I really appreciate your feedback mate, I’m gona have to get right on it – gona be a long day 🙂 Cheers

ParticipantCheers for the tips guys, really helpful. I agree too, this forum walks all over NI!
I managed to get round syncing ok and beat gridded a track that wouldn’t play at the right speed and by shifting the markers for a while it’s turned out well. Pre-setting beat grids beforehand would be great and I’d blitz my whole collection if I could confidently use sync, but till then, I need to get going with it so I’m using tempo only, phasing any adjustments myself on the fly and doubling tempos when needed.
What I really need to know how to do, is set it so that every track is automatically set to the same tempo as master/previous track as soon as it’s loaded, to save having to press sync, then play, then pause, then cue and sync again (to take sync off), which is the only way I know how to make the speed identical to the last track, without having sync prevent me from beat matching the track on the fly.
If you know what I may be doing wrong, or need to do it’d be great to know.
Cheers fella,
Neil

ParticipantCheers fella, thanks for your quick reply and massive apologies for my hugely late one! I’ve got a little closer but I’m still having similar problems if you or anybody else knows of a way round it?
When I load a track, I’m currently pressing sync (only to get tempo same as master/last track), then I press play, I press play again to pause it and then cue to take it to the start, finishing with pressing sync to allow me to take sync off and keep the tempo identical.
That’s the only way I”m able to load a new track, keep the tempo the same and use it without sync. I
When you take sync off, the tempo’s maximum range changes, and it’s different everytime so I can’t adjust the tempo to make it faster on certain occasions after taking sync off and making the tempo identical.
Is there a way you can press a button to match the tempo, without it syncing, causing you to need to do all of this to achieve an mix that isn’t beatgridded & synced but has matching tempos that you can adjust when it goes out of phase?sometimes after loading a track and matching tempo using this process, it will allow room for an additional 30bpm or so, even though I have min/max tempo settings going up to 200 bpm. The tempo says it’s identical to the last tune, but the mix needs adjusting to be faster in many cases, due to the incorrect tempo which is displayed and I often don’t have enough range to do it. I don’t know why this is.
Any help will be massively appreciated, cheers!

ParticipantYeah, cheers for your feedback. I have two watchers at the mo. Maybe if I include a picture of the email from native instruments confirming it to be activated it would gain them more confidence? Hmm, I originally got it off ebay second hand so there’s gotta be someone else out there wanting it, saying that tho, I am a rare kind! Some guys are selling it blatantly as a pirate, no idea where they got the balls/stupidity to do that! Fingers crossed anyway, maybe a private sale thru a mate might work – come on facebookers!

ParticipantOk, does anybody know why nobody seems to want to buy traktor pro 2? I’ve knocked it right down to 58quid, it’s not selling. I spent over 100quid on it but I’m wondering why nobody seems to want it. If anybody knows why this might be, please let me know, I think I made a bad move buying it for use with the DDJ Ergo, it’s been a huge loss. Cheers
