That is true, sorry for not being clear on that point!
And thank you for clearing it out.Still IMO it is better to use Recordbox that is free to the Pio CDJ 850’s
Pär Hessler
ParticipantYou should use Recordbox and USB sticks IMO if you have CDJs that can work with that.
Otherwise Traktor is a better choice because you will not need to buy a hardware soundcard as your mixer is traktor certified and works as a soundcard. You will only need to buy the Traktor software…..

ParticipantIs there a balance knob on Native Instruments S2?
Is there a balance control in your Traktor software?
If so are they on 50% pointing right up?If not try swapping speakers from lef to right and then you will know if it is the speaker/cable to the speaker
or the S2/T2.Come back if problem is still there.
Pär Hessler
ParticipantYou have started your laptop before conecting your soundcard.
Look at the soundcard settings in your software and if that is correct look at the soundcard settings in your laptop. You must start and connect your soundcard (controller) B4 starting your software!

ParticipantYou can not use studio monitor speakers as PA speakers!
Not even for 5 people. They are for near listening in studios.Look at a pair of powered PA speakers instead.
I recommend QSC K-series but they are way out of your pricerange.
I am a pro DJ and could not get a good sleap if I recommended you anything in your pricerange.

ParticipantOne warning!
I see that the cable goes to both l+r speakers in those HPs
And I do not think that it is a swirled cable eather! Those two options is IMO a must if you are to use the HPs as a DJ!

I am sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with your NI S2.
I will try to adress some of your issues:
1 – EQ kill switches, If you do not use loop or other functions that has buttons,
you could map those butons to be EQ kill switches in T2.2 – Cup – button. If you hold down only cue and then at the sam time play and then only let go of the cue it should continue playing if you let go of the play button. If you set a hotcue in the start of the music (same place as your cue) it will work the same way as cup. Or if you very fast push cue and then play it works as cup (takes a little practice but I do it on alol Denon and Pio products in time) Or again you could map any other button to be a cup button….
3 – The soundquality in MC3000 is better than in S2 IMO.
From the sound of your post it is my suggestion that you go for the MC3000….
Because you should have equipment that you like otherwise it is not as much fun DJing IMO.Pär Hessler
ParticipantIf you want to mix as a DJ, then count out the lounchpad.
A lounchpad is for trigging loops in a producer program.
You could of cause map it to a DJ prog but it has only puschbuttons and no sliders or rotary encoders.
That is why you need a DJ controller to DJ (you could DJ from just a keyboard on your computer/laptop as well)The first thing top do is to look up what software you want to run.
Then what controller.Because if you do not decide on the software first you have too many controllers to chose from IMO.
I hope that this is of help 🙂

ParticipantPapa Bear!
If you shall listnen to music in your bedroom I think you will be fine whit these.
But if you are looking for having HiFi speakers as studio monitors I must tell you that you run the wrong line!
Hifi speakers are not constructed to have an as flat as possible toneline as studiomonitors have.
Therefore they color the sound and that is something you do not want if you produce music or make mixtapes or listnes to your mixes. If you can bare 9£ more and then you will not have to buy an amp I suggest you take a look at these:
http://www.thomann.de/de/fostex_pm1_mkii_2.htm
I have a pair in my livingroom (where I should really have a pair of Hifi spekers so I do not live as I learn)
and they are great value for money IMO.March 2, 2012 at 11:08 am in reply to: best dj software 202, traktor vs vdj vs serato vs ___? #16024Pär Hessler

If you are happy whit the software you are using then stick to it!
If there is something that does not work the way you want or that you lack something
then look into any other software that has that and compare what you will miss from your current software.I think that it is as simple as that!!
Also yes VDJ8 will come and hopefully it will be a great software.
But it will not kill anything because Traktor will soon release T2.5
So if some company comes with something new the others will not stand still. One thing why I did not chose VDJ is that it is as I have heard the last software to chose if you scratch
because the timecode is not that good. All DJ software has their + and – so noone can say wich is the best because it depends on wich of the + and –
added gives you personaly the best software.
I choseed Traktor 2 sctarch pro because it gave me the best when I added + and – and it also could work well with both my setups. But I also like VDJ but it wasn’t good enough when it came to the scratchpart.
Jus to be clear hear, I am not a DMC masterscratcher but I add a little scratch now and then in my mixes as effect because the fun of it……Pär Hessler
ParticipantWell you have pretty much naild it yourself IMO!
I think that it is like this in importancelevel.
1 Play the right music in the right time (AKA Read the dancefloor)
2 Mix IMO mix the music together in some way and mix the way you mix (BPM mixing is boooring after two hours)
also mix genres, tempo and mix in anyway possible…..
3 When you master the above 100% and want to add something, add Key (Mixed in key)
But do not ever let the key mix be more important than 1 or 2…….When doing mashup key is a must, when doing mixtapes it is somwhat also rather good to get the mixes in key.
Most people I know does not care a rats ass about mixing in key and they still rock the ass out of most DJs who do!
Personaly I have all my tunes set up so I know what key they are and I work as above!
If I want to play a tune that does not match in key I do play it anyway but then I know it does not match so I
mix it in thinking of that. Otherwise it will not sound good if there is an accapella bit in the track currently playing and I mix in an instrumental part of the next song clashing in key…….
That is one of the reasons it could be a good idea to get a copy of MIK even if you do not mix in key 🙂It is IMO like BPM counters, loops, samplers and effects a tool to be used with care…..

ParticipantHi Wadih,
I am sorry that you feel that way about your Ns6 as I think it is a very good controller
overall and that Numark has done a step up in quality o that unit. However the Denon MC6000 is IMO a fantastic unit if you do not have to thick fingers 🙂
Why don’t you go to a store and find out what you think yourself?

ParticipantAndri95, post: 16068, member: 1610 wrote: Hey, great response guys, thanks 😀 A friend told me I should buy th numark ns6, what do you think about it compared to the other models ?
The Numark NS6 is a NO GO if you think about using it with Traktor!
It is an ITCH controller and the layout is for ITCH and therefore not so good for Traktor!
But if you think of using it with ITCH it is qualitywise between Denon MC6000 and NI S4
or in other words a very good controller!About MC6000 vs S4
Native Instruments is a software company that makes Traktor
They have been making hardware for a very few years.
Denon is a hardware company that has made hardware for over 100years!
That is one of the reasons that the Denon MC6000 has IMO a significant better quality
in hardware sound and feel. The s4 is a great unit but the MC6000 is made of better hardware.
And yes you will have to upgrade the software but in sweden if you get an MC6000 + upgrade
you still have money left if you compare to the price of the S4.http://www.denondjforums.com/denonforums/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=13519
And ofcause you need to go to a store and test wich one suets you the best.
However you choce you will get a great unit, all three is in the top segment IMOPär Hessler
ParticipantDesktop HD is the way to go!
I have seen several people here on DDJT that suffers from problems with external HDD
that goes away when putting the soundlib. in the internal HDD.
If you are to play outside your bedroom you will have one device less to bring
and less cables….IMO no more than max 60-64Gb will be needed for music if you clean out everything that you will not ever play and
clean out old tunes when bringing in new ones on a regular basis. But you will need an external HDD to back up your laptop on!!!!
That is a very important thing, always do backups! -
