Mixtrak pro can be conected to an external mixer via master output.
The sound that comes out from master out can be mixed with another soundsource like a CD player on the external mixer
but you can not conect the Mixtrak pro to an external mixer and mix deck A and Deck B in for example Traktor on the external mixer.
I hope that you understand my explonation, otherways ask again and I will try to explain better.

Personly I think beatmatching is a skill that you shall be able to do by hand otherwise you are not a DJ in my eyes.

Here in sweden in general a lot of new so called DJs bought a cheap laptops and a cheap china made controller and plays for nothing or very little money and free beer. That keeps us “real” DJs out of jobbs as we do not work for free.
There are many that can not read the dancefloor and has absolutely no skills, they push autosync button and playes
their downloaded MP3s that sounds like crap on their downloaded copy of Traktor on their PC full of viruses that crashes at least two times per night! And then in best case the owner do not understand why people stops comming to the club.
So I do not play clubs in Guthenburg any more as the pay in general is less than it was in 1980!

Now that is the main thing that I do not like about Digital DJing.

If this is the evolution that everyone speaks so well about I rest my case!

I haven’t got the guts to upgrade my computers yet.
I wait a while longer as they work very well at the moment.

Firs of all you can do a lot of things on CDJ/DJM that you can not do on digital setups.

There is a really good handle of the efx unit and you have a very good control over the music on bigger joggs.
You can run the CDJs from CD, USB direct, USB with recordbox, or MIDI with for examle Traktor.

There is not very much that can compete with that set for digital setups.

There is one other set that can compete and that is the Denon S3700 x1600/1700 setup.

CD, USB, MIDI with spinning platter for half the price of CDJ’s and X1600/1700 are Traktor certified
(DJM 2000/900 are also Traktor certified)

Try this on a Mixtrak Pro _

Denon is of cause thinking of cutting the price as much as possible. Then something has to go!
You can not make another MC6000 with all the extras at half the price!

I do think that it is the right way to go to take away 2ch, 1 mic, booth and phono pre to make the unit cheaper.

There is still 2x main outputs so you can hook up a speaker on the free output to listen to your mixes in the booth.
As for the phono pre. phono -> line converters are not very expensive to buy. Run a check in google…. 🙂

And remember that Denon has not yet released the product, it has not an official spec yet!!!

I know many people think different but IMO you should be able to play any genre and have a very broad music interest if you should be a good DJ.
Even if you just play EDM it is a good thing to be able to put in for example a song by ACDC in your set.
People who just plays EDM in the same BPM all night makes me very sleepy and it is no fun listening to that when nothing happenes. Throw in a 80’s disco tune or something once in a while and it goes more interesting.

I play anything anywhare and it has worked well for me. Don’t get me wrong here, ofcause you have a base, for examle EDM but then you play 70´80% EDM and 20-30% something else…..

My recipe is to mix. Mix the music, the genres, the BPM, how you mix.
That is how you do sets that doesn’t get dull and boring 🙂

Well not really, In Sweden most people pre-party at home or in a bar.
So the venues opens at 8 or 9 PM and then there is some kind of music running in the background.
The DJ plays from 10 or 11 PM to 2 or 3 AM a few places has opened until 4 PM and then the DJ starts at 10,30-11PM
There is no place in Sweden that has the right to have open later than that……

@DJ Squared : OK There is one more, the Stanton system 1 that is a single CD single mixer only MIDI:
    http://www.stantondj.com/stanton-controllers-systems/system1.html

@eros The clubs in GBG that I know of has an old Pioneer CDJ1000 MkI or MkII that they has in the basement just in case and the booth has only line cables to the PA otherwise it is clean. Because some of the DJs run Traktor and some Serato Scratch Live (SSL)
and sometimes they run the old CD that is there. My friend who plays on these places used to bring his Denon D9000 Cd player but nowdays he runs on Denon MC 6000/Traktor 2 Pro/PC laptop.
On those venues there is only one DJ running the whole night so there is no transitions between DJs….

ARBYSKEE, post: 8454 wrote: That maybe true. They will try and hang on to the CDJ market for as long as possible, but Im not sure they need to worry to be honest as I think alot of people will still stick to CDJ’s for quite a long time, especially as there is uncertainty surrounding what gear people should buy and what direction the market is going in. Clubs certainly aren’t gonna start throwing their CDJ’s out the booth.

Sorry but if Pioneer does not do something about their pricetag soon, they will have to worry IMO.
They will ofcause hang on to the CDJ market as long as possible but they will also have to´come up with something better on the MIDI controller side than what they offer now if they are going to be the leading selling brand.

More than one club that I know of here in Guthenburg Sweden has already thrown theyr CDJ’s out the booth!

As I see it the market goes these ways:
Vinyl (a few is still using that)
DVS (Vinyl with timecode) (a few is using that too)
CD DVS (using cdj’s with timecode/Midi Denon S3700 has MIDI Hybrid)
CD (some are still using CDJ’s with CD including myself)
USB (CDJ but using USB memmory instead of CD’s I’m going that direction myself orderd two 64Gb USB keys today)
CDJ/Computer (Using CDJs as timecode or MIDI divices)
Controller/SW (MIDI controllers with Traktor or other sw)
Controller with built in SW (This is the latestst done by Stanton SCS.4DJ)

As I see it most are using CDJ/USB or Controller w laptop but it is uncertain if Pio / Denon / Numark will come with something like Stanton. I do think/hope that and they should hurry making their software better than the other……
And that could convince more of the CDJ users to swap but only the controller users if there is a port on the unit to connect an external screen otherwise they will stick to Traktor or other….

I do not like to have a laptop to rely on even if it is a Mac. It is built for use at home or on travels. Not for use in a club inviorment with heavy bass that makes it jump and drinks that can be spilt on it. It will not hold up for that in the long run!

I for one will not touch that Spotify in any way.
    Because:
    1. It takes my jobbs, People having parties nowdays bring their laptop and a spotifylist instead of hiering a DJ

    2. The soundquality is awfull!!!!

    My 2 Cents

in reply to: How To Mix Different Bpm Songs? #8417

That is a hard one to get from 130–150 in one track.

I would go 130-132-135-137-140-143-145-148-150 or something like that.
In my sets I would seldom get up more than 2-3BPM in one step.
When I do I do not beatmix…..I slammix or scratch the next track in or use some other way to get the tunes together.
