No! We will know that tomorrow when the press release comes……

No, but I have used it with MIDI on my MIDI keyboard. It worked very well.

We have the Fostex PM05 at our living room at home and they are good for background listening
Like a radio or some lounge music for dinners. I do not know about the PM04 but the 05 is IMO
    well worth the money.
You should really go to a store and listen for yorself and hear wich suetes your ears and wallet the best….

I strongly recommend the M Audio fast track pro.
It has been priced as best soundcard in DJ Mag a year or two ago
I have had mine in my home studio for about three years now and I do like it
    IMO great value for money

IMO it is like this in popularity:

    Traktor
    Viritual DJ
    Serato Scratch Live
    Serato Itch
    Ableton Live
    Others

It seems more and more to me that Traktor is or is to be the industry standard of software for DJ’s
But in US it seems to be a whole lot of people using VDJ…..I think all of the progs are good and you should try them all before purchase. Traktor VDJ and Ableton has free try outs of their programs on their sites to download.
SSL needs their hardware to work and ITCH only comes bundled with the controllers that is for that sw.

I would recommend the upcomming Denon MC3000.
Pressrelease on 17/11 as in 2 days and Phil has said there will be a reviw here
in the near future. (Price will be anounced then)
I have the MC6000 wich is a very rubust controller that meets all but two criterias.
Price and weight. It is a bit more expencive and it is rather heavy.
The MC3000 I do think will have the right price but might not be the right weight
because it is a real metal chassies…..

You can dislike all that but I do think that it might shorten your possibillities to be a DJ and get giggs rather much.:p
So stay in your bedroom and be a hater or try to get an other hobbie than DJ’ing is my tip of the day to you 😉

Sorry I can not find one thing that gets me excited about Digital DJ’ing!
As in computers and controllers. (CD and USB drives are also Digital as far as I know)
The most exciting thing in the DJ world since Technicks SL1210MkII are IMO
    motorized platters on CD/media players!
No controller has that so it is for me a giant step backwards to convert to Digital DJ’ing!
A laptop and controller takes less space but IMO a DJ shall take space and be seen as an artist!
Not be hidden in a corner of a Bar!
I could continue for a lot of time and has really tried to find something with digital DJ’ing that
is a progress for my personal needs.
When there is a computer that is built for this purpose and a motorized platter controller
that is good (as in a lot better than Numark NS7) I will proberbly change my mind.

But as for now I prefer my S3700/x1700 all days in the week before my MC6000.

Don’t get me all wrong here I do think it is a lot of fun playing with my MC6000
But for me it is a toy that I play around with at home.

    Hi!

I liked you mixtape, it was good. Unfortionatly I am at work so I can not give any responce regarding soundquality
My PC speakers at work is really bad (and at home I use Genelec studio monitors so I am used to a bit better sound)……

This might not be what you are looking for but it i a good tool that makes the whole finished tune to sound a bit better
I recommend a tool called Platinum notes
It is the same company that makes Mixed In Key
    http://www.platinumnotes.com/
I always run my files through first Platinum notes and then mixed in key.
In that order because Platinum fixés semitones that are out of key as well as other things.
And I do think that the two programs are money well spent.

So if you run all the tunes in those progs b4 mixing and then platinum notes again on the finisched mixtape
you will have at least a bit better result.

Also I sugest that you download the free tryout sw of Ableton and try it.
You migt like it and then you should try to buy a copy when you can afford it
and you might not like it. Then there are other programs to try.
Don’t get me wrong here, I do think that Ableton Live is the best DJ remix/mashup/mixtape software there is.
But for music production (from scratch) I do think that for example Cubase in combination with Reason is better.

How much ram did you say you had??
Min 2Gb but with all that tasks running you would need more
You might have a ram issue because when ram is full the computer uses HDD space for ram tasks.

Also sorry that I missunderstood you I thought by your text that you had a Pentium 1,86Ghz….

Firs off I too like this site alot and do think that Phil does a very good job, apparantly this site is needed because here is a very high frequence of postings. Also the articles are very well written IMO.

Then to the part that I do not agree on:
I for one do not think that Traktor is the future.
It is too time consuming and you need to be really good at how music is built up and
how to program e.g. mapping. Also all controllers that floodes the market
with most of them low quality is never going to be accepted by the big boys and some of us pro DJs that eather runs vinyl or CDJs and can afford them. As long as there is not any really good controller sticking out as the standard.
On the other hand as it is now there are a few good controllers but not any really good software IMO
Therefore I thinke it will be no change from Pioneer CDJ’s as standard in the booth.
CDJ2000/DJM2000 or S3700/X1700 can be used with traktor and I do think that in
about 5 years both Denon and Pioneer will stop putting in CD drives in their CDJ’s.
Then there will be really good controllers that has the same buididea as todays CDJs or vinyl instead of the controllers today with all built in in the same chassies.

Also simular products to Stantons controller with built in software so that you do not need a laptop
is more likely to be the future I do think.
It does not matter if you have a Mac or PC non of them are developed as a DJ gear and are not Pro DJ gear that can handle the beating they get in a Club inviroment IMO.
Maybe someone will buid a PC or Mac that is built specific for DJs that can handle a beer spilt over it or the heavy bass.
I know such a PC exists for milatary and police use, but not for DJ use.

I have my Denon S3700/X1700 that I has used with CDs uptil today but this weekend I will do my first gigg on them with USB sticks (Wish me luck) And I also has a MC6000 that I never has used outside my door, but I will when there is a gigg that has too little space for my S3700/x1700. And then I will have mixtapes in my iPhone connected at all time for security. I do not feel comfortable using my Macbook Pro/MC6000 on giggs. I feel very nervous about it and do not trust it as I do with my S3700/X1700 setup.
