    My point of view:

Other than the soundfile itself there are differences in controllers and CDJs.
There are different DA/AD converters and different soundcards
Also there are a difference in the software in the controller and CDJ.

I heard a guy who is among the best scratchers in Sweden trying a Vestax CDX
He said it had latency and digital sound. Wich I also could hear.
The same guy tested a Denon S3700 and he said that it did not have latency and no
    digital sound when scratching.
There is as far as I know not any of those issues on the Denon MC6000 that I have eather
But I am not in any way as good as him when it comes to scratching…….

So it is IMO not a difference between CDJ and Controllers but a difference in AD/DA converters and soundcards.
Also different software can handle the sound in different ways I think.
I have heard that VDJ is not as good as Traktor when it comes to scratching….
The joggwheels is also a big issue when scratching on digital media because they a difference in how many pulses per lap they read. Also it is a difference betwenn joggs with touch sensetive and switch in them….

So it is many things that can make differences in feel and sound when scratching IMO.
That is why if scratching you will need one of the more expencive controllers or CDJs
because they have better sondcards that handles the sound in a better way and also better joggs

I must put a warning here!

Pioneer is not very good in makinng headphones IMO!

The HDJ2000 is NOT a good choice IMO.
My friend bought a pair that last for about two month.
He did get a new pair on warranty that lasted for about three month.
Then he got the money back!
Another friend also had his HDJ2000 broken withing three month.

It seems like the HDJ2000 is not much better than the HDJ1000
That I think most people know is very low quality!

The absolute best controller for scratch is the DENON S3700.
The sound and performance when scratching is outstanding compared to everything else on the market.

I had IMO the best scratcher in sweden testing the S3700 and he said it was the first digital thing he has tested that sounded good. He bashed the Numark CDX because it sounded digital and dropped sound when scrathing fast.
Otherwise that should have been better to scratch on because of the 12″ platters. But CDX has issues that can not be solved with software……

IMO the best controller out there as for now would be 2 Denon S3700 + X1700 mixer!
They have the absoulte best joggs that money can buy and selfgenerating timecode + a lot more….
The second best would be Pioneer CDJ2000/DJM2000 IMO

If you are looking for NS6 the size of that package wold not be much bigger
The prize would on the other hand!

The NS6 is a really good controller but it has 2 gripes as I see it
1 SW as it is an Itch controller the layout is not good for Ttaktor!
2 It is too big in size.

Other than NS6 if you want the best is NS4 and Denon MC6000
Here is a comparsion scart between the two that says:
    Jog pulse resolution S4 = 1,0 Denon MC6000 = 2,048 !

    http://www.denondjforums.com/forum/index.php?f=55&t=13519&rb_v=viewtopic

I have made my choice because there are soo many more features on the MC6000
the size and the fact that I do think S4 has lower build quality
and lower quality in hardware such as buttons knobs and chassies

If you do not like itch and do not have the money for S3700
(or the S3900 that is not yet anounced but proberbly will be soon)
Then I sugest that you take a close look at Denon MC6000 and S4 to compare what you think is the best……

Nope, I never plan my sets! But if I have a gig wich has requested songs ahead I try to get a hold of them.

I play by feeling, ear and eye. I read the dancefloor and feel the songs that should be playd/ should not.

I also have some 10-20 secret weapon tunes that I know by memory.
That is a good thing to have but to be used as little as possible for to have when needed.
If you play your best 10songs in the first hour you have nothing to give in the end or if things does not go the way you planned.

I also always have a plan, but that is the same all the time:
“To get as many people as possible on the dancefloor”
But if 95 – 100% is on the floor for more than 30min I try to give some people to the bar…… 🙂

I am not sure that I can be of help as I have never ever play any genre for more than 3-4 tracks at a time.
If I did I would proberbly be boored to death!
I change genre as I change every song, the way best sueted for the moment and the way I feel could work the best.
1There is the old blend together when there is an non vocal part.
I sometimes does a blend when there is vocal on one of the tracks, sometimes the song that shold be blend in starts with accapella then I use that. If the BPM differs so big that it is not blendable I try to blend it by 3/4 even if it is 4/4 or 1/2 tempo
there is always one beat that will fit in…..

2 Sometimes I just cut in the next song but it must be done by finess when the current song goes down or after a build up when everyone expects the song to go crazy….. And in exact timing of cause.

3 The old scool way! By fading the current track volume to zero rather slowly and then fade the next song up rather slowly.
That could be combined with a backspinn of the song currently playing when it is in low volume.
Done right this is a good way to change tempo IMO.

4 Some players and some SW does have vinyl emulation that sounds like you slow down the tempo like if you turn of the power on a TT. That can also be simulated by puting the pitch to + – 100% and slow the song currently playing down to zero rather slowly and then push play of the next song.

That is about all my secret DJ tools that I use when playing parties, weddings and clubs.
My way of DJing is always mix! Mix music, Mix mixstyle, Mix genre, Mix tempo Mix all the way…..
That way it never goes dull for me and my ordience.

As for your second part. I would suggest you to change the mastertempo…..

indamix, post: 10698 wrote: for me i want trust those jog wheels , too small and it sounds hmmm so digital , and it wouldn’t be so precise in scratching cz it’s too small, but absolutely u can do some great tricks on it like in the video u can go hard on it
btw i own the cdj 900s and its good no digital sounds no milliseconds skipping and its size is good a liiiiitle bit of a vinyl feel

That my opinion , i’m still climbing the music mountain too 😉

That is not true! The MC6000 does NOT sound digital and no millisecund skipping.

The CDJ is not better than MC6000 in any way but the size of the joggs in terms of scratching.
In fact the joggs on the MC6000 is better in all other ways than the size.
It is more precise as it has more pulses per turns.
You can also set the sensetivity on the wheels and so on. + MC6000 feels a whole lot less plastic than any Pio joggwheels.

Of cause it is harder to scratch on smaller wheels so if you are abot to scratch DMC style it is Vinyl TTS that is the best.
The second best and closest to that would NOT be Pioneer CDJ 2000/1000/900/800…..
No the closest you come to vinyl feel is Denon S3700 whith a real vinyl record on top and spinning motorized platter
built just lake a TT but more torque 🙂

Sorry! no, that soundcard has only 2 analouge mono out = 1 stereo out
if you do not want to DJ mono style you will need 4 analouge mono out = 2 stereo out
to be able to connect to your analouge mixer…..

That is an old concept I saw it in the early 80s at Playa De Las Americas in Tenneriffe.
In a bar they had six Technics 1210’s and two DJ’s playing.
It is called back to back when two DJ’s play together.

The thing is that they can compliment each other and play some tunes each
It is no need IMO but a cool thing to look at and also I do think they can trigger each other
    to do cool stuff.

A friend of mine who usualy is a VJ playing on Pio VDJ sometimes does this with another rather known DJ
called Alex Moreno. I have watched them a couple of times and I do think it is a good way of doing something different
in a club like an event. The same guy also sometimes DJ/VJs together with a very good saxophone player.
That I have not witnessed myself but it is always sold out on those occations.

I would suggest that you take a close look at the Shure range of HP.
There are a few, all meeting your spec, high quality in build and sound.
I think it is much HP for the money compared to many others.
