ParticipantYou must then chose the Mixtrak Pro as soundcard in your software prog (Traktor LE) and in your computer.
If you start the software b4 the Mixtrack Pro the computer can not find the soundcard on the MTP so it choses the internal soundcard on your computer instead. Therfore you need to tell your compuer again that you want the sound from MTP.
Try to remember to turn your MTP on before the software. If I am wrong and this is not the case and you run PC as I think you do. You might need to reinstall the drivers for the Mixtrack Pro……
I hope this will solve your problem!

ParticipantWhat you need is some basic knowlage about music build.
If not all at least most dance music is built in 4/4beats.
Now you say you count by snaredrum and I am sorry but that is wrong!
You can listen for the snare but you have to start the mix like this:
The beat 4/4 starts at 1 wich most of the cases is a bass drum then 2 is a snaredrum 2 bass 4 snare.
So you need to find the 1s……
Then 4/4 is a bar and music is built on 4 much common 8 bars.
After 8 bars there usualy is some change in the music.
1234 2234 3234 4234 5234 6234 7234 8234 Here is where it is a good place to mix in the next song.
In the beginning there is no way arund it, you will have to concentrate and cout.
But you must be able to find out where the 1 of the beat is because very often a song does not start on 1.
Look around on the internet there is much to be found about music and how it is built…………..
For me after playing drums for 20+ yeras and Dj ing for about 30 I can talk to people at the same time that I drop a mix in
the right place and in sync without syncbutton.
just to let you know there is no way around it if you want to be a better DJ there is just practice practice and practice to chose from!
Also in EDM most DJs uses filter or EQ to turn off the bass on one of the tracks in the mix.
That way it sounds smoother in the transition but it is much harder for you to hear if it is in sync……
Experiment with that for a while and you will see that you get better every day.Good luck!

ParticipantTry rotating the wet dry knob to zero and then up again…..

ParticipantSuggestion:
Do it the old fasion way:
Backspin is done by spinning the joggwheel backwards.
Loop out is done by making a loop and then slowly turning the channel fader downwards to zero.Pär Hessler
ParticipantIf you run a cracked Traktor on your laptop, that is the problem!
Otherwise there is something running in the backgroud taking up CPU
You need to turn everything that you do not need off!
Auto updates, virus programs and so on.
Are you running Vista?, Considder XP or Win 7. Vista is the worse OS you can get IMO
If you uses external HDD, don’t! Put the music in the internal HDD.//DJ Hessler

ParticipantI do think that the Mixtrak pro would be a good choice if you are low on budget.
Also you might want to update to Traktor pro 2…..
Wich you do first is up to you…..Pär Hessler

pros:
cheap as hell (bought it used 3 months ago for $1000)
fast as hell – i upgraded the HDD and RAM myself, now my Mac runs Logic Pro/Ableton Live with a bunch of plugins like a boss
decent screen, backlit keyboard
cons:
fairly unreliable storage (RAID 0 = 2 x dangerous) i look forward to buying an SSD soon
low-res glossy screen. i wonder what hi-res matte screen will be like. current screen is a little cramped for Traktor 4-deck in advanced mode.
2 USB PORT!!! Tell me why Apple? i had to buy a 10 ports USB hub and carry it around all the time
slightly deformed in the corner… it was a nerve-wrecking 1 meters fall. oh well, my badJust a few suggestions that might be of help on your cons:
If you don’t already do it buy a 1TB or 2 TB external HDD to back up with time machine and you will be covered a bit better….Even withs SSD you should do continuos backups IMO. I lernt the hard way…………Get a Magic mouse if you does not have it and then you get one more USB port.
Also there is USB splitter that gets one port to two and they take no place at all that way you get 4 USB ports if that would be enough? Otherwise I agree that Apple is not that generous with their USB ports.Pär Hessler
ParticipantFirst off you will never get it to work if you do not meet the minimum demands by Traktor
http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/dj/traktor-pro-2/?page=2050
You need at least 2Gb of ram for start.
I suppose you have a PC not a Mac?
If PC you need to turn everything off and if you use Vista you ask for problems and should try Win 7
Or at least you need to reinstall of the Vista.
also you need to turn everything that is not needed for DJing on your laptop off.
After that you should try to raise the latency settings in Traktor settings. If you still have problems there is a risk that your laptop does not face the standard in the USB outputs.
That problem Pioneer DJ ergo suffers from and in that case you need to get a POWERED USB hub
so that your soundcard gets the power in the USB port that it needs…..//DJ Hessler

ParticipantIf you want top quality you migt also take a look at the MC6000/MC3000 and compare with the rest before making your mind up…..

If you want 4 decks I sugest you take a look at the Denon SC2000 to add to your S4 🙂José: Give it some time and play aroud a bit with your gear and you will get it working, I am sure of it.
And do as Phil suggested, give the manual sime time. I think you rush it a bit…….Pär Hessler
ParticipantMarco Roa Frias, post: 11916, member: 864 wrote: CDJ are expensive in my opinion. A good for the buck is a controller. so, you could get one… as stated above a mixtrack/ mixtrack pro is the cheapest way to go.. laptop wise any laptop will do as long as you dont abuse it load what you need ONY – DJ software!
There are expensive CDJs as there are expencive controllers!
You can not compare Pio CDJ2000 pro gear to a Mixtrak pro bedroom gear!
There are begginers CDJs that are not that expencive the same way that there are cheap controllers!
A mixtrak Pro can be compared to a cheap all in one unit CDJ from Numark that costs about the same in my country.
So that is IMO not true!I have counted and came to the conclution that if you will get pro DJ gear it costs about the same:
Controller: Macbook Pro, NI Traktor Pro, Denopn MC6000 Denon HP1000.
CDJ: 2xDenon S3700 Denon X1600 Denon HP1000
Do the math and you will see what I mean!My suggestion is still to start off with a Mixtrak Pro if you own a laptop
That would be a good start and after that you can either stick with the Mixtrak, get a better controller or get CDJs.//DJ Hessler

ParticipantYou should IMO be very careful when buying “cheap” headphones.
Your hearing is very important and you should be careful chosing a hedphone that can handle high volume without sounding bad! If you only play at home on low volume it might be OK with a 100$ HP but in a live situation you really need something better IMO because otherwise you might hurt your ears!Pär Hessler
ParticipantI would suggest that you get 2xSC2000 a Denon X16000 or X1700 mixer and Traktor Pro SW
The X1600/X1700 has the best soundcard built in that I’ve ever heard (even better or as good as Pio DJM2000/DJM900)
Or if you can bare with 2 channels the X600. All mixers are Traktor certified so you will not need the traktor soundcard!
I tested one SC2000 together with the X600 mixer and the sound was outstanding (listned in my Genelec studiomonitors)
I would think you will get a better sound than the one in NIs soundcard but I have not listned to compare.
The NI 10 soundcard is 24bit Denon mixers are 32bit…..//DJ Hessler
