Memberare you using two of the same track at the beginning to simulate an echo with the crossfader? that’s a nifty little trick.

MemberI think that personally house – which usually has a four by four beat that is pretty instinctual – is probably the easiest especially since most tracks give you a good long intro and outro. Moombah is pretty easy too – but I just really love the groove of it. For me hip hop has been a challenge and I would say it is my toughest to mix right now.

MemberI agree, but with hip hop DJs it seems it is just so embedded in their culture that they are having the hardest time adjusting to the change in the DJ culture as a whole. I was listening to a DJ the other night and she was (yes, SHE) was going hard! – great song choices, VERY smooth transitions – NO scratching even though she was using Pioneer CDJs w/ Serato timecode. Anyway, another DJ was standing next to me and I mentioned that she is doing great and his response was – “yeah but she’s just playing music, I like to actually DJ.” – emphasis on the DJ portion like what she was doing wasn’t actually DJing. I know the guy and he is a very scratch heavy DJ and labels everything (house, dubstep, trance etc.) “techno” – so I feel that once they put themselves in the hip hop category there is a heavy tendency to write everything else off.

MemberHello pancakes! Congratulations on the new system – I own one and use it with traktor it works great! So… you wanna have Darouter started first before you start traktor, select the preset you wanna use then open traktor. From there run the setup wizard since you have LE and it should ask you if you are using an external controller, say yes and it should give you a dropdown menu to select from. Choose the stanton scs3 system. Now it’s been a while so I don’t remember exactly how LE works but go to controller manager or something similar and there should be an in and out dropdown tab – make sure you choose the darouter option for both, after this you will need to load the SCS3 LE preset located on your computer under stanton. This is from memory from over a year ago so it’s a bit sketch but it’s the basic premise. Also… what exactly were you encountering. Let me know if this helps!
Thanks!

MemberHey thanks buddy! 🙂

MemberThanks D-Jam! I still know a bunch of people back there so I’m asking around about what are some of the ‘better’ clubs to play at and what style of music they play. I figured better to start early and get things lined up before I even get there.
By the way, the promoting events series – great job! Thanks again.

Actually yes… I thought it was a bit odd… but yeah my scs3 jog wheels felt different after the install.

MemberYeah… with business owners/managers I usually find that setting up meetings can be a big part of the challenge… I would say definitely visit him during a time that is not a “peak” hour and try set something concrete up, but yeah if he pulls anything like this again I would probably not go through with it.
