That’s great, I would love to talk to them… seems like the forum might be the perfect place to do that!

I started with Mixxx – as it is completely free and looked fully featured – after which I tried VDJ just seemed it looked like a lot of people were using it, liked it. Really learned a lot from it as far as the basics. I wanted to really split my sound and after doing some research I bought Audio2DJ from NI and it came with traktor LE. I tried using that and really liked it – loved it actually – not sure if it’s a personal idea but it felt, to me at least, like a professionals software. Also when I got my dascratch unit it came ready to be used in traktor LE and VDJ wouldn’t let me use controllers till I upgraded so that was THE big switching moment for me. Now with LE you can get traktor pro for a discount, I think I paid $70 for it. And now Im an absolute traktor head! Love it! Can’t recommend it enough.

I have tested that controller and I like it, it’s definitely a solid beginner controller. But I will say, my first controller was the scs 3d ‘dascratch’ – since then I have gotten the full set and I love it – it’s a bit daunting but I have really grown with it and I love showing it off when playing – it just looks cool! I also have since added a midi fighter pro. I am very much a gear slut – something that’s come with me being a guitar player.

Yeah, definitely agree with the points above – remixes and mashups are usually a big hit. Right now a Michael Meds remix of Bruno Mars’ grenade is a huge hit with the ladies in my area, and from there I can usually indulge my house/electro house fix for at least a little bit ;). But top 40 isn’t too hard to mix and the crowd doesn’t particularly care about ‘mixing’ – not to say don’t mix but if they’re a bit rough I’ve found most people in this crowd aren’t paying attention, they’re just waiting for the next melody they recognize!

Well… I’m from Alaska, but originally from the Philippines. Djing in Alaska is kinda sparse but definitely growing. Unfortunately was not much into Djing when I lived in the Philippines so I never paid attention – but now, I am deadly curious about scenes anywhere and would love to go back just to research the djs!
