I try and not “shoulder-surf” as I know that can be annoying, and I won’t bug anyone in the heat of the mix, I know how it is when your trying to find the perfect spot. I’ve even asked some about songs I recognize that is it a remake, after their set is done. As long as I know it’s not me.

I was going to suggest Audcity too, but if that won’t work, Audiograbber has a line-in feature.

I tried Serato DJ yesterday with my VCI-300 (kind of a disappointment). I think for now I will stick with Itch. Some of the fundamentals of Itch were lost in Serato DJ. In my opinion, they weren’t worth losing for midi mapping and some effects.

For one, in files mode (for that matter in any mode) the backward and forward feature on the controller mounted selector does not work – at all. Scroll doesn’t stay lit (I use the jogs quite a bit to navigate my music list), and when you select a new song, it doesn’t automatically change cue (a to b) – these were native from Itch 1.0. To not have those small things IMHO makes Serato DJ not as fun to work with. When DJing is no longer fun, it just becomes another job. Itch seems to handle the onboard sound card a bit better as well – better amplification.

I was planning on getting a midifighter – guess I’ll have to stick with my FX1.

..and even those staying with vinyl are still rocking glorified controllers at the first moment they lay down a platter of control vinyl. Let’s have a show of hands of those who would rather lug 5 crates of vinyl up a flight of stairs than a pocket-sized hard drive. (and the room is completely silent…)

Since you have a VCI-300, just wait a bit longer for Serato to release the Serato DJ version for the VCI-300 (patiently waiting, rubbing my grubby hands together..)

As the replacement for Itch, the word is that it will support midi mapping. They said the release for those of us who have a 300 is sometime in February. Can’t wait. I have an FX1, but I want a Midi Fighter.

    Viiideo Gamessss (Homer Simpson voice)

I too started with pong… then progressed to Atari 2600, NES, Super NES, PS1, PS2, PS3. Big fan of the PS2 Hitman Series. Also the Ace Combat Series.

Coltrane you should come back to Warhawk. Anytime I log on day or night, there are dozens of servers of players blasting away at each other.
