Even better, like I said you have to sell yourself. Talk to the managers, especially if they have one of those people who are selling some special products and have a stage with a tri pod and speakers. You should also try Macy’s if your mall has one. I know Macy’s over here in New York City, they have a dj when ever their is a special sale, though he only had the ttm 57 and I think he was using internal mode or something cause he didn’t have any turntables or cd jays. Hopefully have a mixer/controller.
Remember
- You have to sell yourself
- What makes you special/different from everyone else
- It’s good that they don’t have a dj you could be the first dj there
- Don’t get your hopes up, cause if you get rejected it hurts more

This is really a stepping stone project for a full in depth database that would pull from Mixed in Key and Serato (and if it looks viable to sell Traktor and/or Virtual DJ) which is graphical and will have points in a web that would expand and contract with the connections being the curated mixes.
Anybody know anything I am talking about that would be willing to help me?I’m pretty sure virtual dj has this function already. Windows Media Player artificially downloads ID3 Tags for music files though it doesn’t always get it right and I think ITunes does as well.

No problem been doing it for years.

ParticipantSometimes it’s not just what you know but who you know. You’re on the right track by asking people close to you, that is how I got my first gig. I started out djing for free at lounges and gave out my business cards during the parties I did. Now I’m not saying go out and do it for free or undercut other djs. I’m saying you have to show people and clients why they should choose you, you need to sell yourself(ex: Why should I pick you instead of Him/Her? I’ll do it for free… I’ll dj for you to hear how good I am at no charge… I have censored and G rated music…. I play several genres….I have recommendations from so and so……. I have a following…. etc)
Now places you should try out are:
- Carnivals
- Flea Markets
- Block Parties
- Friends Birthday Parties, even pool parties, BBQs
- Outings
- Music stores or malls
Things you need are Business cards and if you can’t afford them make 7- 10 mins Demo CDs and put your contact information on the cd or put it in a nice CD envelope(You can get these at the discount store or 99 cent store in the U.S. for 99 cents… Or get some cd cases).

OMG you played that at an “8TH Grade Formal?” I would have got in trouble for something like that.

ParticipantSo then what do you use? If you have windows media player you just drag the picture onto the album art in your library
Dj Emazing
ParticipantNot a prob, next time if something breaks and its plastic try using Gorilla Glue to fix it (Krazy Glue and Gorilla Glue are different, Gorilla Glue is stronger).
Dj Emazing
ParticipantHey can you make or post a video of what the problem is and what you did to make the sound better?
I might be able to help, and do you still have that plastic ring?Dj Emazing

Wish I could be more help but it takes a while for some djs with similar experiences to reply, plus active members and moderators are online at random. Another thing to factor in is the times zones, it may be night time in the USA but in Europe it could be morning time.

Participant1. Try search on youtube how to fix speakers, they have plenty of videos on how to fix this problem.
2. Go to a junk yard/thrift shop and by some cheap speakers to replace the spare magnet and cone.
3. Or you can wait for one of the members who had the same problem to help resolve as I would like to know what they will say so I can learn from it if I have to fix a speaker.
4. Sometimes you just have to replace the whole unit especially if money is a factor.Dj Emazing

Greetinx,
C.SENNHEISER IS A BEAST! I had and still have Sony’s brand for years but then a pair of $90 USD Sennheiser caught my attention(Model “HD 205”). OMG The Music is so clean and crispy, I could believe it, I’m in love with these headphones I brought an extra pair just incase they discontinued the model.

ParticipantUsually the one who goes first sets the tone of the performance, hopefully the dj before you isn’t a idiot and plays all the hot tracks and leaves not just you but the guest dj to play the same tracks again or nothing to play. If anything I hope the dj just plays a good set nothing too old and nothing too new, that way you can play a better set and then the guy after you a better set. Then hopefully the guest dj plays a great set.

ParticipantHence why I don’t Drink, Smoke or do drugs. As a matter of fact no dj should drink, smoke or do drugs but the club scene is full of that.
