Yeah I may have been thinking about it too much, it can definitely grow on you.

Yeah the introduction of midi controllers is what caused this to be honest, everyone thinks they are a dj after they get a controller or even some decent equipment but there is a lot more to it than that. I used to mobile dj but I got tired of dealing with people who wanted to pin their own prices on me. I just hate it when someone tells me how much I have to do it for because they are on a budget, but when it comes to food and drinks it’s sky’s the limit.

Don’t get me wrong it’s not bad, but I’m not sure if it goes well with song titles

For example: Artist Name- Title of track (GrinReap Remix)/(GrinReap Edit)/(GrinReap Refix)/(GrinReap Blend)/(GrinReap Mashup).

Though I could grow into it.

A thought If you’re heading in that direction would be Dj Scythe or Scythe Productions or just Scythe because you kill the records and you can literally kill the records on stage like snapping major Artist CDs that you like or even Vinyls but not the old ones in mint condition.

Glad you moved from midi to DVS because it like you want to learn more about the aspects of djing. Another thing that is good is that a lot of djs only know how to mix and use midi and don’t know how to use DVS, vinyl or cdjs which is were these midi controllers got their original function from.

Handing out cards by the hundreds irl and worried people would steal your design if you post your card online? I hope you didn’t use your design on your website or anything.

Nope didn’t use it for my site which is under construction due to the fact that no dj may need one in a couple months. I do use my logo for video mixing though but you would have to record the mix take a snap shot and then edit out the background to get the logo which is a lot of work just to steal that logo that isn’t in high resolution.

This is a tough question, so yes and no. Depending on how much you’re getting paid some promoters go on a hand shake. Sometimes when I do business with people I earn their trust or build a very good friendship with them. Sometime contracts are digital, I would get a text message asking me if I’m available for so and so dates and I would text back yes. The Promoter would then save the text message as a contract. When the party is completed the text message can be deleted.

Now if you want my opinion on whether you should get a contract, then I would say yes. It doesn’t matter if it’s a club, venue, promoter or client get a contract. It doesn’t have to be anything to complicated, it should state time, date, pricing etc. Most these djs today are only getting paid $100 USD… Not even $100 USD I should say $50 USD, I know for a fact this owner pays his dj who brings in a Numark NS6 $50 USD. So if you’re getting paid $50 USD then there is no need for a contract because filing a court case cost more than $50 USD in the U.S. on your side. Funny though I bring in my Numark Mixtrack Pro and get paid 5 to 8 times what he gets from my promoter.

Now on the other side it’s different if you’re a promoter and you get to sign contract with a dj then chances are the dj can be liable for some damages.

For example: I’m a client who is cheap and asked for a $50 USD dj to do my Wedding and people have done this over a popular site I will not name but rhymes with “Meg’s Fish”. If the dj as in you does a bad job or doesn’t show up the client can then sue for damages and emotional stress/distress.

Wooo, sorry for the long explanation, but this is another reason why you don’t charge a cheap amount. You charge a fair amount until someone rips you off, then you charge the next guy an even larger amount.

Sorry about the censoring, not saying you would steal my design but I’m sure others would lol.

Pre record mixes and make them 30 to 40 minute intervals (That’s if you have time to do it). Then make those mixes your playlist.

Well if the stage is small and if no one is going to be walking around in the audience to interact then I see no purpose for a wireless mic. I don’t even know how having a wireless microphone will give off a good impression, just get the mic stand and a wired mic and your good to go. If you do get the wireless mic and it leads to more gigs let me know.

What we need as djs are portable bullet proof rooms that filter out outside noise so we can’t hear what people are saying when they are trying to talk to us/ask for a request lol.

Go to parties/or watch youtube vids with djs that are better than you, this will amp or hype you up into your djing. Well at least for me.

I wanted to by some turntables but I might have to use that money and buy a controller case for it because of the beer problem. People are just way to comfortable around djs now-a-days especially while they are djing I’m really trying not to buy much accessories because I want to spend the money on either software or equipment not something additional to prevent people from damaging my equipment.
