MemberBeing a one of the newbs to this…I think they both serve a purpose because I,initially, learned on CDJs (Which I own) and then bought a T1 controller. Not because of the sync, but because I like the visualization of the music on my laptop. I’m a digital age kid and hearing and then being able to see things makes things click in my brain. I think learning both is important, but I use the sync button when I do my club gigs, because I’m still honing my skills and craft. There’s nothing wrong with using the tools to help you become great and put your flare on things. I’ve been doing this for less than one year and have my first audition for club residency and out of state gigs bookings, and i use my controller all the time.
However, I think it’s important to say that the sync button doesn’t always work 100% of the time. I constantly find my self manually beat matching songs as I que them up. The sync button aids me in some ways, but it’s not something to ever solely rely on. So it seems like a ridiculous argument, because you will always need to know how to beat match on some level…

MemberI use the Apogee Duet for my audio interface. It’s sound clarity is AMAZING. It’s on the pricey side, but specifically for Macs. Check it out…

MemberHey Nick. I am in Denver…Live downtown. Born and raised in Denver bud.
Before I answer your questions…What music are you into? What clubs do you go to?

MemberLike people have mentioned…Starting at small gigs are great for learning because you can make mistakes and no one really cares as much as if you were spinning in a club at midnight and screw up 🙂
I think, my opinion, is to put your sets or podcast online. This is the new “demo” place for people to hear your music and see if it’s a good fit for their venue. Building your fan base is crucial because clubs/bars wanna know you can bring folks in. I think the biggest is to actually visit the club or venue, feel the atmosphere, hear the music they play, and get to know the right people! (It’s who you know) Then tap your friends who are big club/bar goes to help promote you…chances are someone is someone’s friend who is the manager of some bar or club!! 🙂
Good luck and cheers!

MemberI use Podomatic for my casts. (But I use soundcloud, mixcloud as well)
Amazing site and lots of free functions on it. And if you pay for the Pro version (Which is WAY cheaper than Soundcloud by any means) you get some cool things. Additionally, podomatic can be used to for RSS if you want to create a iTunes podcast. (You can’t do this with soundcloud or mixcloud) And you get a free site landing page from podomatic. Pretty impressive for a free program.
The process is very simple and podomatic does it all for you at no charge!!!DJ Chris Cornell
MemberSo I’ve been at it for about 3 days now and all day today so far and I love the T1 and tracktor. The sync between my mac and T1 is flawless and love the layout. Loading and updating the software was simple and done in about 15 minutes. I can’t find anything I don’t quite like.
I’ve heard some people say that it’s too big and heavy, but I disagree. I love the spacing and distance between buttons and solid feel of the unit. I have large hands and big fingers, so this unit works great because I’m not hitting knobs and buttons because they are packed together too closely. My opinion is that if a controller looks and feels like a toy…it’s just that. So if you can invest into it, I think it’s totally worth it.

MemberI actually just got my T1 yesterday and think it’s pretty sweet. The controls and knobs are solid like the ones on my CDJ’s. However, I did get mine for $730 USD from amazon brand new. Way better deal than from Pioneer. But worth it at that point!!!

MemberYou’re very right…I watched 60+ hours of tutorials. Made some of my own (very amateur) mixes that weren’t terrible. Mastering is my next area of learning with that. Figured you should be well rounded right?? 😛
