ParticipantMy understanding is that “slip mode” is available in all the Serato DJ controllers but its whether you have a button mapped on the controller or if you have to trigger it with the keyboard. I haven’t tried this with the Twitch yet so i dont know…

Key new features of Serato DJ 1.3.0

Serato DJ FX Expansion PacksSerato DJ 1.3.0 comes with two brand new FX Expansion Packs, containing new FX powered by iZotope. The Wolf Pack, available as a free download, and the Back Pack, which is available to purchase for USD19. Expansion Packs can be purchased / activated in-app within the Serato DJ ’Online’ window, or from the Serato Online Store. Each new FX Expansion Pack comes loaded with several base FX for use in Single FX Mode, plus, a large number of base FX variations for use in Multi FX Mode.
For the full list of FX available in the Wolf Pack and Back Pack, and to watch Logan from the Serato Product Team demo the new FX, please visit the FX Expansion Packs page.
Favourite FXNew to Serato DJ 1.3.0 is the Favorite FX feature, which can be found within the Serato DJ setup screen. Favorite FX allows you to customize the FX select drop down menus that appear in Serato DJ, showing the FX you choose as your favorites. Maintain your growing FX list, and easily Add / Remove FX to your favorites list to suit your own performance needs.
Slip Mode for all supported controllersWith Serato DJ 1.3.0 anyone using a supported Serato DJ controller will now be able to use Slip Mode. When Slip Mode is activated you can manipulate the audio as normal (e.g Scratching, Looping, triggering Cue Points etc) however, once you have finished, the playback position is returned to where it would be if you had not manipulated the audio. Slip Mode can also be MIDI mapped to a secondary MIDI controller if your hardware doesn’t have a dedicated Slip Mode button.
Support for Novation Twitch & Vestax VCI-300 + VFX1Novation Twitch and Vestax VCI-300 controllers are officially supported with a Free Upgrade to Serato DJ 1.3.0. The VFX1 FX add on controller is also officially supported with Serato DJ 1.3.0 and can be used with any supported Serato DJ controller. To learn how these controllers are mapped to Serato DJ, please visit the Serato DJ Support page.
Other Changes1.3.0 also comes with added performance optimization and stability fixes. Check the release notes for Serato DJ 1.3.0 for more information.

ParticipantI am happy that the latest version is out, but bummed that I have to wait another 3 months at least before there is TWITCH support. Good things come to those that wait I guess.

ParticipantNietzSKY, can you give me the name of a track on youtube I can listen to with this “hardstyle kick”? I am very intrigued now.
Also if you give me an example of a “dutch house” song I’d appreicate that as well! Trying to diverisfy from RnB/HipHop and more into Moombahton/Trap and more Bass Music.

ParticipantMyaybe tell us briefly what do are doing at the moment with regards to DJ’ing and mixing and what you would like to do in the future?

ParticipantGo to the DDJT youtube page and watch the reviews for the Twitch and the Denon. I know Phil did a review of the MC6000 but I am not so sure about the MC3000. However the two are very similar.
After that, see which one you see yourself using.

ParticipantI’ve seen controllers and laptops at concerts (opening DJ acts for performers and such). In clubs, I’ve mainly seen CDJ’s or Serato DVS being used, not full on controllers.
But i don’t go clubbing that much these days 😉
I have no reservations with using the club’s CDJ’s but i’d like the option to use my controller if i want.
If anyone’s seen a controller used in a club in Oz, let me know!

ParticipantWhat do you think of the Twitch as a professional controller?
DJ BRUAEL
ParticipantYeah I can’t think of many smaller serato controllers. Out of all the big three software packages, Serato has the least amount of controllers on the market.
The Pioneer WeGo is now available for Serato I beleive. Probably the smallest one now.
Vestax Typhoon may be tiny bit smaller as well.
The Novation Twitch MAY be a bit smaller than the mixtrack, not sure.Other than that, you may want to try Virtual DJ. Plenty of controllers for Virtual DJ are small, including the Numark/Ion DJ2Go.

ParticipantAwesome, ill download this when I get home tonight!
and thanks for educating me on the Live Twitch Translator, i thought it was an Ableton Live thing.
Much thanks, i’ll definatley give your soundcloud page a listen as well.

ParticipantHey Hardly a Riot, if you can send it to me i’d love to see what you did with it.
Would this be for Abelton then?

ParticipantI actually have a question about gain staging and redlining. Are we supposed to watch the software VU meters on the screen or the hardware VU meters on our controllers, or are they both conveying the same information?
I also don’t understand the concept of gain staging fully. What will be put me into the red the quickest? Is it increasing the master output volume, the individual gain (trim) knobs on the individual channels or something else?
I use auto-gain on ITCH but find that the red-light limiter comes on when i am not even past 50% on gains.

ParticipantI’ve seen two traktor mappings for the twitch available on the traktor bible website. You can search for the Twitch and it will bring up the mappings. One of them is supposedly compatible with the remix decks. However, its quite complicated the overlay is marked with shift functions for everything.

ParticipantTo clarify my question, is Sydney open to digital DJ’ing? Will I get laughed at if I bring my laptop and controllers to the clubs or is it more about playing good music full stop?
