I went deeper in this whole gain, clipping and volume level and after conducting several experiments I can definitely say that if a track is reaching the red levels is Traktor, it will be distorted (depends on how much the track “stays” in that level). Unfortunately, I also discovered that most of my tracks are clipped. Even if I would adjust their gain (using MP3Gain for instance or just adjusting the gain knob) I will still miss that curvy shaped amplitudes of the song that makes the track sound crisp and sharp in its loudest segments. The good news are, that I couldn’t hear a big difference between a clipped song and its fixed version (I used Audacity to fix the clipping and reduce the amplification).

I understand what you’r saying but I do not use the Auto Gain option. The problem begins that each track has a different volume level and clipping occurs in most of them. In other words, without touching and gain knobs (not on the controller and not in the software) my tracks still reach the red level in Traktor. So, if I level the tracks (using MP3Gain) and I make sure that in Traktor I do not reach the red levels, I need to amplify more (i.e. turning the master volume further clockwise) and as a result I reach the red levels on my mixer… what should I do in order to avoid red levels (or sound distortion) but still keep my tracks in a high volume?

Thank you, DJ Hessler. I have another question for you:
Based on what you said, I need to make sure that the signal that leaves my mixer should be a little bit below the 0db (last green light) so in case I use FX or my EQ I would not distort the sound. What about the meter in the Traktor software? If a song “touches” the red markers in Traktor, does it means that the song comes out distorted even before I had the chance to adjust anything on my mixer? And, since I am connecting my system to a house mixer, my level meter should match the other’s mixer levels? Or should I be concentrated only on the house mixers’s volume level since it sends the signal to the PA?
    Thank you for your help
