@DevilsCaretaker – southern MD – that’s a commute! Checked out your website and previewed your mixes – nice work.

Thanks… And yeah I know, lls! That’s my biggest problem @ the moment, no one wants to come this way! I’ve been going at it solo for a little while now… I’m around DC & BMore often checking people out and supporting when I can but I’m caught in that old trap…

Where in Maryland are you? I’ve been looking for some help building something in the Southern Maryland area.

Hey how’s it going…? Nice to keep finding people in the area! I’m southern Maryland myself but consider anything within 2hrs local. Need anything, drop me a line…

Yeah man… I may do something like go to a half step rap track or break (64 bpm) then travel up to 70, then Trap for a few to smoothly transition genres and then drop some Dubstep. Just remember the songs are more important than the mix, so fade out and drop on the one if need be. They’ll interpret the fade as a change 9x outta 10 anyway.

The 50s are nice too, a lil more and have a coiled cable. I did notice the bass boost a little. You can look up frequency responses of a lot of varied cans here: http://www.headphone.com/learning-center/build-a-graph.php

Yeah that’s them… Don’t get caught up in the “latest & greatest” trap. It’s about finding what performs to your standards and budget. When i first got mine, the salesman (a studio engineer) showed me those first, then said if you want the same percormance for $200 you can get these and showed me some more expensive cans. The fact that he didnt try to upsell me made a big impression on me and I’ve been a Chuck Levin’s shopper ever sense. As far as the jack, $3-4 gets you a reducer at any Radio Shack or Best Buy type store. Hope this helps.

Yeah good point… My biggest tip/trick is the echo freeze effect. It creates those long tails you mention and to add some fun as you bring in the next track the echo morphs to the bpm change.

You need some “flat response” cans for producing. They don’t enhance the sound as most do so you get a real representation of how your tracks add up. Most enhance bass cuz that’s what we tend to like most and most DJ cans are like this. Audio Technica ATH-40s are pretty good and only run $60. Hope this helps…

If you’ve any lighting units you could bring out, there’s no such thing as too many lights =D (we’ve got a few micro galaxians, a color strip, an aggressor and an eclipse, but it can always been taken 1 step further) that’d be cool, otherwise bodies will do nicely. Also, it’s a BYOB and there’s a pretty cheap beer/liquor store right around the corner…..the venue I work with isn’t a bar or club so technically we can’t profit off of alcohol sales.

Cool, I have a mini aggressor and a tri gem led from ADJ & a mini hurricane fogger with 2 T trusses…

I don’t have a lot of experience in this dept. but my thoughts would be to play as close to what you would normally. If you over complicate this and screw up, you’re probably done in his eyes. However, if you can perform a clean set with a few comfortable tricks thrown in, it could open the “warm up” doors for you. I personally wouldn’t try to wow people with things that aren’t my usual flavor. 5-10 tracks you know well should do. Be cool, show what you’ve got & GOOD LUCK!

In stead of just emailing you I’m clearing the schedule to be in the house on the 30th. Anything you need me to bring besides as many extra bodies as I can…?

My best one to date was my own party…! I wanted to start building my audience for Dubstep & Trap so I named the night “Progressive” and detailed out in the flyers what we would be listening to. As the party got up to around 25 people the girls were moving a good bit to the Trap remixes of Rihanna and so forth but 2 songs later they scattered. Then my own sister was like “You got some 2 Chainz?” I gave her the honor and she led the floor, had all the girls 12 or so dancing for 20 mins or better so I tried to slide back into the theme of the night and they all cleared out shortly after. The 15 people I had at the end of the night were the ones I was looking for anyway so we continued on once a month.
