ParticipantI had the same problem with Tracktor timecode. There’ll be something in the menu setting to set it back to normal play, I don’thave it anymore so ca’tn check what the option was and I haven’t used Serato so don’t know the menu is like. It was a pain when it happend as I was setting up for a gig and it took me ages to find the solution. Sorry I can’t be more help but look in the vinyl mode section and just check and uncheck until you get normal playback

ParticipantIt works fine for me. I go from my mixer in to the mic input on the Laptop. Once it’s recorded I master the recording so the levels and right. I use a Ground loop between the mixer and Laptop to cut down any buzzing that might be fed through.
Here a rough mix mix that took I spent about 10min mastering and 30min converting to Mp3 for upload

I wanted to do a quick test for mix cloud so it’s not the best quality but Audacity is a option you should look at before buying a hardware solution.DeeJay SiBoogie
ParticipantI’m dropping the “Si BooGiE” name as I’m moving away from the mobile work. Link me here:

Also, I’m looking at starting promotions early next year so with permission from Tony I’d like to use the B2B logoDeeJay SiBoogie
ParticipantYou could just use audacity on your laptop and have it running behind Itch. You would just have to set the soundcard input in the options. The m-audio is
October 18, 2012 at 8:49 am in reply to: Traktor DJs… How do you organise your music? (I'm having problems) #1013912DeeJay SiBoogie
ParticipantThe first step to having an organised files sytem is your drive, keep it in order, have a back drive/s and always leave some space free. The free space if for if you ever want to move folder around from one drive to another. If your drive is organised it make importing tracks a breeze. My folder struture on the drive goes: Genre > Import year/month/week. as I download music once a week so an e.g. would be Tech House> 2012 Oct 1. Once it on the drive I just drag the folder in to the RekordBox playlist for that genre which, will also add them to the main collection, for anaylse it BPM and Key then add comments and ratings. From there I can create playlist for mix sets. Also all my drive are formatted to FAT32 so I can use them on both Windows and Mac.
I’ve worked on getting a system that works for me and I’ve changed it several times but now I think I’ve got it to be whats best for my needs, everyone will have their own preferences. If you using Traktor and Itunes you need to remember that after analysing your tracks in Traktor to make sure your saving the info to the tags then reload the tag info in Itunes so it will show the BPM as per the Traktor analyse. The issue you have with the star rating is due to the different ID3 tag versions of each programe,
iTunes does have the ability to convert ID3 tags to a different version, up to v2.4. You can do this by right-clicking the track and choosing “Convert ID3 Tags. If the tag data is definately there but isn’t showing up you could try changing the ID3 tag version. v2.4 is standard for Traktor

ParticipantIf you’re going to use the Ipad you’ll need either the camera connection kit and a usb audio device or you can you use the in built mic but I’d doubt the quality would be there. Like Robert said switching Traktor to internal mode will help with the cross fade but you’ll be hard pressed to crossfader and EQ without a controller. So seeing as you have an Ipad, if you can’t afford a controller and your laptop is WiFi have a look at TouchOCS for the Ipad to controll Traktor remotely

There are plenty of different mappings available onlineCan you explain how you’ve got you mixer hooked up seeing as it’s a standard analogue

2 x CDJ900, DJM700, RMX1000, 2 x Seagate 1Tb drives. There another laptop out of shot that is used for Internet access and recording. The stand is custom made from UrbanHause internally there’s a wi-fi router, used as a switch, and a surged protected socket strip with a power inlet and XLR outputs on the legs
The laptop is running RekordBox which prior to the last update was able to connect to the decks via wireless but is now connected via LAN cableDeeJay SiBoogie
ParticipantMy whole collection which spans 30yrs of DJing would take over 2 years to play no-stop. My House music which covers most genres is at around 67000, with my other selections like Reggae, RnB, Hip-Hop, Soul, Pop etc I’m touching around 130000. Then there’s my general collection which is below DJ quality music or the wife’s collection as I call it which is now stored in my old CD case, that’s another 1000 CDs
Depending what I’m booked for depends on what I take. If I’m playing House I’ll take around 40 tracks for every hour sorted in to playlist on USB stick, If I’m doing anything else like a wedding with general mainstream music or a Reggae/RnB party I’ll take my whole collection for that genre on a drive so I can cater for request.
As I’m now concentrating on my House music I get new music every week, probably around 40-50 new tracks. When I first started DJing I had 20 records or mixture of 12″ and LP’s which I would play to death during the night but as the crowd was always changing I got away with it.October 15, 2012 at 7:35 am in reply to: how to determine bpm for different parts of the song? #1013640DeeJay SiBoogie
ParticipantYou only need to look at the transitiion of the two tracks, it shouldn’t be a problem beat matching the BPM’s. If your doing a long transition where the BPM constantly changes just ride the pitch fader. You don’t need software. Remember when it comes to mixing “if it don’t fit, don’t force it”
The other option are sync which is on most if not all DVS or use Ableton to warp the tracksDeeJay SiBoogie
ParticipantI’ve used a vestax vci 100 and it was solid as a rock so I’d expect nothing less from the 400. The XDJ Aero seem to throw up some issues around the wifi (go to the pioneer DJ forum) RekordBox can also be problematic, I use it and it took some work to get it stable. The DJ sx looks like a quality bit of kit, something I would take a close look at. Gemini always gets bad press but my very first mixer was a Gemini and my brother has it in his den now still going strong.
Like Terry said you need to decide if you want to be have a multi format platform from from CDMP700 of pure midi of a controller. If you go with a controller you then need to think which DVS you’re going to use. The DJ sx is attractive with Serato DJ and the free video upgrade with the first 10000 units.I went for multi format to cover all my bases.

ParticipantAuto gain will help to keep the audio level when one track is higher than the other.
On each EQ you have a gain control but right at the top of the window is the master gain control.
Check YouTube for DJ Tech Tool or Ean Golden for tips and tricks of Traktor. There may be some custom maps for the S2 over at DJ Tech Tools site.DeeJay SiBoogie

ParticipantThe collection contains links to exsisting files not duplicated files.
It’s been a while since I last used Traktor so can’t remeber about the record gain or if it has it’s own gain level or it’s controlled by the master gain. I think it controlled by the master so set that right and you should be good. I always re-mastered my recording in Audacity anyway to remove any clipping etc
Never used MediaMonkey but have tried other programmes with mixed results. The best thing to do is rip at the highest rate possible and/or purchase high quality tracks. If a track is poor quality to start off with there not really a lot you can do to improve the quality.DeeJay SiBoogie
ParticipantTractor 2.1 didn’t offer me Advanced HID hence the upgrade, to my regret. If you’re interested in RekordBox there is a way to link it to Traktor and I think it allows for the import of loops and cues, it’s freeware called RekordBuddy (d/l link http://www.facebook.com/DamienSirkis) it’s for MAC only though.

ParticipantRob, CrossDJ is the little brother to Cross 2.0. I suspect the fx might not be as good as Traktor but I always use external fx so it’s not a big issue. What I like about Cross 2.0 is the link to RekordBox which I use with my CDJ900s and the Ipad app giving remote access although I’m hoping the hot cues will be mapped to the CDJs.
You may not know but the new CDJ2000 nexus has this same ReckordBox > CDJ > app link which is certainly not aimed at the bedroom DJ’s at £3000 a pair so you may see Ritchie with his phone or pad in hand one day
I dumped Traktor at 2.5 as eventhough NI finally gave Advanced HID it became so unstable it was unusable and RekordBox was finally getting more stable. Really I’m just looking for an easy cheap way of getting hot cues on to my decks as that’s all that missing from them. -
