That is fair… if this is your primary hobby, it is certainly much cheaper than a lot of hobbies. Cheaper than owning hobby vehicles like four wheelers or snow machines (snow mobiles to non-Alaskans), going on holiday as a hobby (heck, this hobby might theoretically lead to you getting paid to travel), etc., etc. Heck, at the lower end, it’s not more expensive than being a hardcore tabletop gamer with the D&D and the boardgames and all that.
The problem is, even those of us who know what we have is perfectly sufficient for our needs still want the better gear. We don’t get it, but boy, DO WANT!
