MemberI play a lot of “secret songs.” I don’t use beatport. I also play lots of hits (i.e. Gangnam Style). I kind of like that song.
Everyone is happy.

MemberPretty much anything that bboys dance to. Looks like the reddit folks did a pretty good job though!

Nice, how much does it cost to get a custom domain?

Happy mixing.
Thanks! I learned from that video that I was really prone to “serato face,” so I have been working on pushing my laptop off to the side a lot more as a result. I use a VCI-300 mk2 as the central controller, with at VFX-1 for effects and an X1 for cue points, samples, and library control.

MemberPros: those with a good intuition for music and ability to read the crowd can learn really quickly. One doesn’t have to carry turntables and a mixer everywhere. You can learn quickly.
Cons: many start playing out before reaching a point of musical maturity. The market gets saturated with “freejays” and make it harder for more experienced djs to earn fair compensation. You can annoy your friends and family by constantly inviting them to crappy events and such.

MemberHi guys! A few of my friends suggested that I check out WIX as a hosting spot for my site. I was really skeptical, but think that it is really well-designed for DJ’s I put a fair amount of time into customizing things on the site, but think that the result is very professional and such. At least it has helped me get some gigs!

After all it’s a DJ comp not a popularity contest, but then again when mixes are hosted what is to stop “A” dj going through the mixes and finding his and telling friends mix number ?? is my mix please vote for that mix.
because it’s us here on the forum voting

Memberyou should make sure that the mixes are “anonymized” so that it’s a blind test of the mixes – that way people won’t prejudice their decisions

MemberPlay a housey track that is fairly formulaic. Backspin. Play a latin song everyone knows (i.e. Danza Kuduro). Dancefloor full.

Memberya, itch has flanger/phaser/hpf/lpf/echo/reverb/brake/delay/loop roll (beatmasher)/gater/bitcrusher.
idk if the twitch has access to all of these effects though. The VFX-1 effects unit has controls for all these.

MemberHaha, well I didn’t go crazy switching songs every 30 seconds, but it was pretty darn enjoyable. There were probably about 500 people there throughout the night, I played a 2 and a half hour set. I hit a bunch of different genres, starting with some prog house and working through electro house, house, hip hop, moombah, and trap. We also did a dance contest, with tickets to the Kap Slap concert this Saturday as a prize, and that was really fun (especially given my background in the St. Louis dance scene as a bboy). Once my set was over around 1, I just partied with all my friends that were there until the end of the night around 3.
Odd fun thing – the two songs that people loved the most were “I Like the Way You Move” by Outkast and “Took the Night” by Chelly.
This picture was at 10pm at the beginning of the night.

Memberhaha, first club gig in my home city. I’ve played at lounges, bars, and private events here, but never at a club here in St. Louis. All the clubs I’ve played at have been in Spanish-speaking countries.

Memberaw shucks, I’ve still got a long way to go. My current goal is to get really good at recognizing song structure so I can mix in a song at almost any given point in a track. For this video I had to plan it out, but it CAN be done “on the run” with a good understanding of structure.
Also, first club gig in my home city tomorrow night!
