soundcloud, beatport, itunes, music blogs. It’s everywhere. Listen to one of the kajillion moombahton mixtapes out there and figure out what kind of moombahton you want (moombahcore vs ton vs slow house vs other random subgenres).

I did it, it is possible. I also have two majors and am going to medical school next year, so I promise it can be done!

One of the most important things you can do is make connections at the beginning. Don’t sweat it if you don’t get a ton of gigs your first year; make connections and get to know people. Once they have more trust and know who you are, the gigs will come!

note; that picture is of me running audio (for live performers) at a college formal last weekend. So pretty much the same situation.

this along the lines of what I wear. Just make sure you don’t stick out like a sore thumb. If you look sharp, people treat you better too.

Electro-swing is the accepted sub-genre name, but “Swing-House” is more accurate – it is house music that uses oldish sounding samples, not swing music that uses house elements. Good luck on finding a place to play this kind of music – as a swing dancer, I appreciate it, but the only time I get to play e-swing is during a warmup set.

AAC is a younger and more advanced format than mp3 and files bought from iTunes (~256 kbit/s average bitrate, slightly varying) should compare very well to Lame –v0 (that’s how amazon, emusic and many others encode their files) or 320kbit/s mp3 files.
Actually, blind listening tests done some time ago by the hydrogenaudio community have shown that all common audio codecs in VBR mode (even crappy wma) are sufficent to reach transparency at reasonable average bitrates of 200-320 kbps.

I don’t like it. It looks better, but offers less information.

I apologise if any of this sounds harsh or blunt, but its 4:42am and I may not be thinking straight haha.

d00d it’s a hookah bar, you don’t need to have any technical dj skills. Just play good music that suits a chill atmosphere.

That was rather incoherent; there are many hits out there, many of which suck. But there are many good ones, and through mixing good hits with songs you really like, you build a style.
