ParticipantHaha I get where you’re coming from dj vintage! The idea was that it is a cheap set up for free partys so if it got trashed it didn’t matter! I am upgrading to active speakers etc as you say I was literally just looking for a way of getting it hooked up for messing about with until the new speakers arrive, cheap as they are and all that we’ve actually had some belters of shindigs with them! All input is gratefully received it all helps in the learning curve so cheers dude 🙂

ParticipantWell this is the conclusion I’m slowly coming to that the crossover is in fact surplus to requirements the way it must have been set up, the first layout you did just there looks like the one being used as things stand, just noticed on the back of the subs there’s two jack plug connections as well as the bare wire connections so it must just be amp to tops with the subs connected as you say! It sounds like it would be better if the highs and lows were split from what you said earlier so I’ll grab some more cables and give it a try, cheers for your help and patience man it is greatly appreciated! 🙂

ParticipantRight so upon further digging around in the bag of cables it looks like he’s just been using two jack to jack cables, two jack to bare wire and a phono to phono to connect everything up, we were using the set up the night before we stripped it down to pack it away in my car so considering I have everything that was there it evidently works together somehow, unfortunately we were pretty hungover when we were doing it so any note of what goes where went out the window! From the way you described at first I would need a few more cables right? Super confused but going into town today so can hopefully get some more leads and get it all hooked up!!

Participanthaha sorry man they are jack plugs I was reading about RCA plugs earlier which is probably where that came from! Everything is passive, the subs have bare wire connectors only and the tops have jacks and bare wire connectors, I’ll try and get a picture up of the amp and crossover!

ParticipantHey man thanks for the reply and super useful information, much appreciated! Aye that’s all the gear and it is a two channel amp I think, it’s got a channel A and a channel B so I assume that means it’s a two channel?!! What I ended up trying was just running the s4 to the amp input with a phono to phono cable and connected the top speakers to the left and right rca outputs on the amp which does work but obviously it would be nice to get the subs on the go too! It’s definitely easier than I’ve been making it so far and really grateful for your help man 🙂
