ParticipantLook on the blog…
Hi DJ Vintage,
I’m familiar with the DDJT Forums, but where do I find the ‘blog? TIA

ParticipantHi Vijay,
Take a look at cdpool.com –
They have pre-releases of future chart hits as well as dance mixes (several different subscription options).
DJ Nostalgia
ParticipantThanks bob6397 –
So is there anything we need to do?
DJ Nostalgia
ParticipantCan’t speak from personal experience but I know some semi-pro DJ’s who swear by the moulded style plugs. Oddly enough, they got them at Specsavers which makes no sense whatsoever!

ParticipantThanks Ricky –
I already have the clause re promotional material in my Contract, so thanks for that. Video of events is something I am looking at for the future – in fact, I posted here about good camcorders for low light conditions a while ago. Strange though it may seem, weddings are not my target market – as the DJ name suggests – I prefer the older clientele such as 30+ birthdays, anniversaries, etc although that may include second time around weddings. That said, a video would probably work well for any occasion.
Thanks again & we’ll see if any other ideas come forward.DJ Nostalgia
ParticipantThese are not YT videos. They are DDJT videos hosted by Infusionsoft.
DJ Nostalgia
ParticipantThanks DJ Vintage.
I have now amended the Contract to say client is responsible for the ‘excess’ on claims.
DJ Nostalgia
ParticipantThanks, Dom. I’ll give it some thought.

ParticipantIn my opinion, how you organise your music ‘crates’ comes down to what ‘type’ of DJ you are/want to be, e.g. if you are a ‘genre’ DJ, then the obvious way to have your music sorted is by (sub)genre. If, on the other hand, you are a mobile DJ like myself then I have my crates organised by decade, with a few ‘custom’ crates for Christmas/NYE, general party tracks, etc.

ParticipantPlenty of recent posts on the subject of registration and licensing (specifically for the UK).
That’s odd! I’ve searched all Forums for ‘registration‘ and ‘licensing‘ (separately & together) & none of the Posts returned mentioned anything about CRB/DBS (I am in the UK, incidentally). Plenty of stuff about the eternal PPL/PRS licensing ‘jungle’ though!
Would you, perhaps, be kind enough to post a link to one or two of the posts that you mention?

ParticipantHi Chris –
I ‘feel your pain’ & frustration, Man!
I began DJ’ing around ’79/’80 at a youth club (I’m considerably older than you, I guess☺). I then went mobile until the mid-’80s, at which point I felt pressured to ‘get a real job’, so spent the next 25 years with my nose to the grindstone in jobs I hated, with no DJ’ing on the side for pleasure?. Forward to 2011 & I was made redundant. So I thought why not try making money from my lifetime passion – DJ’ing? I don’t have kids/family but own my home & currently survive on benefits. It’s not ‘taken off’ yet, but I am giving it ‘my best shot’. So, if you are content with your current lifestyle, my advice would be ‘go all out for it’ – you only have one life.
One last thing I will add – which I don’t usually mention as I think it is generally irrelevant in most scenarios – is, I am severely mobility-impaired so rely heavily on others for the lifting & carrying part of being a mobile DJ, but that ain’t gonna stop me doing the thing I love more than anything else in this life (except the people around me), & that’s being a DJ.DJ Nostalgia
ParticipantThanks bob6397 –
I’m in the UK, so looks like I’m covered.

ParticipantUpdate…
Can’t see how to ‘Edit’ previous post, so adding instead –
Found options for ‘Importing’ CD’s settings, so now just need to know the best way forward to ‘standardise’ files in my library?

ParticipantThey played their salsa in the bar’s stereo system…
Presumably, as they subsequently used the venue’s own sound system, the bar owner was OK with it?
It is one thing to not have what has been requested – after all, you were hired as an EDM DJ – but to refuse to play what is offered (presuming you have the capability)… I certainly wouldn’t rush to hire a DJ who wouldn’t play something because “I don’t think I would have enjoyed playing their music…”DJ Nostalgia
ParticipantThanks DJ Vintage –
A very useful & encouraging reply to an issue I thought would be much more complicated – but maybe too much choice is a disadvantage in itself!
