ParticipantIf you’re looking for the actual album covers – eBay?
If you just want the images – Google Images search.

ParticipantOn the subject of requests you don’t have, I have never had an issue with connecting my smartphone to my laptop via USB and downloading ‘on the fly’ from Amazon – which can get you ‘Brownie-points’ with your crowd if you can play their requests within minutes of them asking!

ParticipantHi Ethanol – Welcome to the DDJT Forums…
Exactly what ‘kind’ of tips are you hoping for – technical, how to prepare/approach the gig?
If it’s the second point, here’s my ideas –
You say it is a pub, so I’m guessing it’s a ‘public’ gig, not an invited guests only private party?
1. Be ‘up for’ taking requests – You’ll never ‘please all the people, all of the time’ but at least you’ll please some of them, most of the time!
2. Depending on the age range – you say you know the place well – decide a rough ‘structure’ for your set, e.g. genre, era, time of the night.
3. Don’t ‘expect’ to have a packed dance floor – assuming there is one – all night. If you do, great.
4. ENJOY YOURSELF! A happy DJ exudes confidence and enthusiasm upon his or her audience. Good luck…

ParticipantDoesn’t help after the event, but my philosophy is ‘He who pays the DJ calls the tune (quite literally!)…” – so, refer the whingeing guests to whoever paid you to play only 80s/90s/00s music!
Reading your Post, I would add one caveat… who was actually paying for your services as a DJ? The Groom/Bride-to-be, or the ‘Planner’ you refer to – I’ve heard of people using wedding planners, but not engagement party planners! My guess is, it was the planner trying to look good to the Bride & Groom, at your expense! I would always seek permission/guidance from the client directly in this sort of situation.
If YOU can’t get to the client directly, tell the guests to get the client to speak to you…DJ Nostalgia
ParticipantHey LMP –
Not sure you’ll get ‘actual fact’ here – I doubt many DJs are copyright lawyers! – but, nevertheless, I’ll be keeping up with any replies to this question…

ParticipantThanks, DJ Vintage –
As my mentor is always telling me, “use your ears, not your eyes” (to beatmatch/mix)…
Being a bit OCD, it’s frustrating when you have a tool that is supposed to help, but doesn’t!!!

ParticipantAs recommended, here’s an image from SDJ which illustrates the issue of about 80% of my tracks –

ParticipantHi DJ Wee Man –
The only tracks which seem to be ‘beatgridded’ properly – at least most of the time! – are tracks with a very definite, regular kick drum from the first beat…
As suggested by DJ Vintage, I’m going to try linking to a ‘screenshot’ of a beatgrid from SDJ to illustrate the issue…

ParticipantThanks DJ Vintage –
I’ll give it a try…

ParticipantHi DJ Vintage –
Yeah – I think that’s what I mean…! If there is a way for me to add a screenshot from SDJ to this Post, let me know how – a picture says a thousand words!

ParticipantBut setting up a gravatar account is really easy.
I beg to differ…
The only way I seem to be able to log in to Gravatar.com is using my WordPress.com credentials, which then takes me away from the Gravatar.com site!
Added to this, I can’t upload an image to use on Gravatar.com as the button doesn’t work!!!Frustrating…

ParticipantCDPool.com have a Mobile DJ pack called Essential Series, featuring 1500 classic/party tunes. It’s an ‘all or nothing’ pack, but might suit you well.

ParticipantSpeaking as a mobile, non-genre specific, DJ my philosophy is ‘too much is never enough’. I can’t see a time when I will stop collecting new music, or older stuff that has passed me by. I always invite clients to provide me with a must-have Playlist of up to 25 tracks, that I will guarantee to play during their event – that way, I know the person who is paying me is gonna be happy at least some of the time, & that’s my main objective.
The issue I have is not with the number of tracks I have, but the number of duplicates in my Serato DJ software! Not sure how they all got there, but frightened to delete any in case I delete a ‘good’ copy & end up with only a corrupt file version.DJ Nostalgia
ParticipantI agree with DJ Vintage…
I think you are absolutely right to kill the music. If nobody was prepared to step in & ‘escort’ the problem away, then everybody loses out!
