MemberYep when I switch that to main, it does become controllable from the main level knob. So That works for me, Just seems odd that visually it doesnt control traktor volume knob inside the software.

MemberOh it is. It has a separate analog knob beside the RCA booth outputs. I’ll get some 1/4 in cables to see if the master knob does indeed control the main out, even though it doesn’t visually control it in Traktor itself.

MemberWell I noticed in the software itself there is a master volume knob. wouldnt mind using the master lvl knob to control that. I guess i need to get some 1/4 in out puts to go into my speakers. right now all i have is RCA so i have been using the booth output to learn with.

MemberI took the plunge and bought an S2 off ebay (dun dun dunnnn) for just under 300. It came in the mail yesterday, perfect condition. everything works, knobs, LEDs, faders. So I made out like a bandit and now will proceed to learn what the heck I am doing! But I am in no rush, I think it would be fun to DJ parties, and weddings but Im no way interested in being a club dj at this time. Maybe down the line Ill change my mind. We’ll see. Im excited though 🙂

MemberThe MC2000 is more expensive than the Mixtrack and the CMD, but it is a direct possibility. Well I get paid on the 12 and ironically its also my birthday. I may have to get my self something nice.

Member@DJ AMK – I know I wouldnt even consider the S4 for that reason if the price hadnt dropped.
But I just heard about the Behringer CMD Studio 4A.
I dont like that it has Deckadance, mostly cause of the flaws that Phil pointed out. Im interested in finding a review with the traktor mapping. Or if they fix the flaws the controller has with Deckadance I will really consider it. especially with the price point. I think it looks a lot more professional than the Mixtrack pro.The lack of Gain knob doesn’t bug me too much, especially since the Mixtrack doesnt have seperate gains for the two decks anyways.
So many choices ha.

MemberYa the S2 would be plenty for me. And Terry I definitely agree. Plastic is always a shady product used, but I dont know, maybe I just sit on it for a couple more weeks and save and buy new. Or just go the mixtrack pro II. I am just starting and even if it is mostly plastic, it is a good starter controller even if they just took the first one and threw some sample pads on it.
Hmm time for some budgeting and sitting at a guitar center checking out controllers haha.

MemberWell something to keep in mind (and the only reason I am considering the S4) is that NI dropped the price on the S4 “while supplies last”. So retail its like 50 buck difference according to NI’s website. So why not just go for the S4. But again depends on the deal I find used.

Memberthey only things i can find about keyboards is the device information for my keyboard. Nothing about settings. I use a Razer Blackwidow and even in Razer’s software im not finding anything. Im betting its windows but im not finding it there.

( sorry for bad english, not my mother tongue)Easiest way (atleast with virtual dj as that is what I am most familiar with) would be hot cue it in ur software and then use ur laptop to trigger the cue. You could map 1-9 on ur keypad as cues. or any other button really.

Memberright on. I do like how DJ Player will support MIDI controllers such as the mixtrack pro. does Djay have a sampler? Thats one thing I wish DJ Player had, even tho it wouldnt be very convenient to load samples up.

MemberI also voted no. Maybe its cause I have a hard time deciding when ANYONE sells out there sound. Bands/artists change their sounds the more they make music. If they kept with the same sound for their whole careers I bet a lot more artists would get thrown to the side out of boredom by their fans.
Plus as stated above, he does still have some really good tracks that arent top 40. And I ask what is wrong with top 40? It’s catchy and gets overplayed over its lifespan?
meh I have no issues with top 40 i guess is where my opinion is formed.

MemberRight on. Ill fiddle with it some more. Hopefully after my move later this month (and get the paychecks flowing back in) i can make the plunge to a Mixtrack pro and get off the free software. (a lot of the settings in the free version dont seem to change anything. Idk if its my specific copy or just a glitch in the free version.)

MemberYa honestly that fact that the bpm reads wrong doesnt bug me much. As I practice ill learn around that. What does bug me is that When I load up a track and hit play, Virtual DJ automatically syncs their bpm. Without me changing it myself or hitting the sync. Quite a nuisance if you ask me. Has anyone had this problem? or is it just that I am using the free Home version.

MemberIt straight comes down to preference.
Windows is what I have more experience with. I know it better. That’s what i have. It’s more friendly to open sourced products in my experience. Maybe it is because thats what a lot of nerds use.
OSx is much more straight forward in my opinion. much more stable. (maybe cause it has less hacks written for it then PC’s (cause of the dominance in the consumer market.))
Power wise, either OS will run djing programs just fine. That’ll come down to mostly to ur hardware.
As for the looks. You may not care. I may not care. However you do have the “image” aspect. Looking the part is important, and people associate the shiny glowing apple on the macs with DJs.
Personally when I finally get around to getting a laptop, I’m gonna rock a mac. I like the simple user friendly OS then windows.
