Member“DJ Furniture”? Oh man, I totally found my new DJ name.
Seriously though, one of my mate’s got a table like this (or something along these lines anyway):
Which I decided to test out with my controller and laptop, it worked pretty well, a bit on the narrow side, but I’m sure that can be remedied somehow.Cybertrash

Unprofessional!
We as DJ’s get crazy, whack, lame requests all night, every night we play. Most of us (I would hope) just politely smile and keep doing our thing. But to stop the music and put someone on blast?! 😮
It’s not like she touched his equipment or tried to yank on a cord. But since it’s Kid Capri I guess he can get away with such behavior.
Well, you know what the say, the more famous you become, the more leeway you have to act like an asshole

MemberI dunno… All I run is Traktor 2 LE on my second-hand Late 2009 BookMac, and it manages just fine, both loading tracks, analyzing and running the program can be done without problems. I did upgrade the RAM to 4GB though.
But I have no experience with DAWs, so I can’t help you there I’m afraid.

Wow, two years? That’s harsh. One would think a fellow DJ would have respect for your wish to not be disturbed whilst playing… But then again, Vodka n Redbulls are not known for improving someone’s judgment.
Luckily (or maybe not) I haven’t had the opportunity to throw someone out of a club, on account that I’ve never played in one (still being in the pre-larval state of beginner bedroom-DJ), but if I ever rise to the skill level that I am capable of playing out, I’m sure this situation will arise.
I think that it’s inevitable, if it’s from drunk friends, or even sober strangers; requests, fiddling with knobs, distractions etc. will happen. I think it is because not a lot of people really understand what the DJ does. With a band, it’s different, they play music by doing… stuff with instruments, in general, I don’t think you’d see someone try to snatch the guitar from a band and start playing their own tune (there’s always exceptions to the rule, of course).
But a DJ? What is that the DJ is doing behind those turntables, how does it work? Hell, I thought the DJ was somehow responsible for the music production (having only seen EDM-DJs) a few years ago, but then I decided to read up.

MemberI’m an IT-tech at a major Swedish bank… It’s alright I guess, but not very intellectually or creatively rewarding. Definitely not something I want to do the rest of my life.

MemberI’ve got a pair of Stanton DJ Pro 2000 (ridiculous name, I know), they were recommended to me by an ex-DJ at the local guitar center. They’re alright, could be a bit more comfy, and the bass is kinda mellow, but they’re alright for the price.

MemberSeems to be etiher that, or they don’t have any pitchfader functionality at all… Maybe the expect you to use the sync button at all times, i dunno *shrug*

MemberFrankly. I don’t know. For some reason, a couple of months ago, something about DJing piqued my interest, what, I cannot tell. I ended up downloading Mixxx, and started reading around on various DJ forums, watching videos, trying to learn everything there is.
Next thing I know, I’m failing horribly at beatmatching, but I’m having a blast doing it. Those few months ago, I knew shit all about music. Sure, I listened to it, knew my way around my preferred genres, what distinguished them, notable producers n such, but very few technical details. Now all of a sudden, I know about BPM, bars, EQing, filters, beatmatching and I have a Mixtrack Pro ordered and on the way.
I did not expect to become seriously interested in DJing, and even less did I expect understanding anything about it. But here I am, unskilled, but definitely not lacking in motivation.
