Don’t mind the crappy intro, it gets better after a couple of seconds in.

Practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, ad infinitum. And if you get a chance to try your hands on vinyl, take it.

That it is… And it looks like it’d take some getting used to, using the interface with Traktor.

As far as I know, resolution is not variable, only pitch range. So my fear is that I will need to decrease the pitch range to something fairly low, in order to gain the resolution the S4 has on full pitch range, leaving me sort of inflexible. But maybe I’m ascribing too much to the NHL protocol.

How are the Pitch faders on the MC6000? Something that’s worried me a bit is that the faders on normal MIDI-controllers are a bit too low-rez, leaving youd ependent on something like the S4 or a Itch controller if you want to do manual beatmatching.

Nonetheless, the stores are there, and they provide a great way of finding music you maybe wouldn’t have listened to otherwise, and unlike online store, the staff (usually) knows a lot of their stuff.

I don’t know why people keep saying that the record store is dead, I went record-diving just yesterday (found some odd compilation CD with singles from Tip Records <3 ), and whilst, sure, the place might not be crawling with DJs (most of their visitors are hipsters or audiophiles), the place is going pretty strong, and they have a *huge* amount of Vinyl… I can only lament that I do not own a turntable :c

Hate to be “that guy”, but it’s actually Numark who owns Alesis, Akai & Alto. ION Audio is just a branding Numark uses.

Also, up until now, I had no idea Numark were that big D:

At the moment, I don’t think I know someone who could be called “mentally ill”. I did, however, have a brief relationship with a girl who I suspect (she wouldn’t tell me) had something close to bipolar syndrome, she appeared to be really distress for seemingly no reasons, cut her wrists, and was on antidepressants (I hear this is fairly common in some parts of the world, but around here, I’d say it’s not).

I think that relationship was one of the most trying times in my recent years, not because she wasn’t “normal”, but it isn’t easy seeing someone you care for suffer that way.

My flight cases for my 1200s were made by a friend of mine. He used wood with felt and corners/hinges they sell for homemade speakers. Solid cases. He even built them so I had to remove the clips on the back for the dust covers…simply because he wanted them so you can scratch and the turntables won’t move.

What? Tech 12’s can move? I thought they were welded to the fabric of spacetime.

As someone in your thread on DJTT said, this “mess” puts you in a good light. From the promoters point of view, you will be the one who came prepared, mixed properly, and knew what they were doing. If I was in your seat, I’d not hesitate to contact said promoter again.

His sets can’t be very interesting if plays the same tunes everytime and is it just me or is putting a pre-mixed cd on not a very good party trick?

The absurdity of a DJ saying “I don’t listen to what I do” just struck me in full force.

Why on earth is this guy famous?

As a ‘Reason’ for his Belief That ‘He’ Is The Second Coming – No Comment

He does come off as very arrogant, especially considering that he (supposedly) said this as well:

“I love the fact that ppl don’t think I am mixing cause I’m not wearing headphones all the time .. I play 160 gigs a year , and have dj’d for 15 years . Just cause someone is doing something different doesn’t mean that its fake .. I think all of u who think so should stop being such haters and come see for yourself .. I play the same records everyday I don’t need to listen to what I do .. Its my party trick and respect that instead of hating on it . If u doubt it come in the both or try do it yourself before u judge !! Ok .. Nuff said .. SA”

Well… Not to be ‘that guy’, but actually, you can… There’s a bit of work involved, but it’s definitely possible.

To be honest? It seems a bit shifty to me, like they’re using some loophole in intellectual property law, I mean, they can’t possibly have license agreements with *every* label out there, that’s absurd. Just look at the problems Spotify got into with some major labels, that resulted in a couple of artists being pulled from the service.
