ParticipantMarco’s right, but even on the ‘smoothest’ setting ie. the one designed to give you most gradual fade, I notice the same thing: 90% of the volume comes at the top 20% of the fader. Glad I’m not the only one who’s noticed this.
Does anyone else think this, or are my expectations wrong?
Craig
ParticipantCan you sing it for me? No? Can you hum it then?
Oh the fun we had with that line when working in retail!
I’d say scan Sonny’s recent adds to Beatport, he plays a lot of his own productions/remixes, might be worth a shot scanning his last month’s worth of tracks of Beatport.
Craig
ParticipantI’ll say my opinion here; your Saturday To Eternity jackin house mix is firken ace!
It’s gots da fonk! Fully jackin tackle from a Chicago DJ, who would have thought it!
Craig
ParticipantCompletely understand, you’ve done your time behind the decks (but the love doesn’t go away, does it?). What you should do is channel your DDJT experiences into making an actual track.
This would put you right in the shoes of the intended audience of DDJT, trying out something new.
I can see it now, Mike Monday could do the mix for the B side and Chuck ‘DJ Vintage’ can write the promo material, he’s never short of a word! There’d be a Beats mix for Steve C to scratch with and a remix competition using the stems (winner gets some of the no-doubt huge pile of ex-review stock lying around DDJT Towers HQ).
But what would the track be called? ‘ReMorse‘, ‘Read My Tips‘ and ‘Tipping In Sunshine‘ would be my suggestions.
Anyway, you’ve got a website to run.
Craig
ParticipantThanks SFT,
Onya Phil, I’m loving it! Dubbus maximus with incredibly heavy oceans of chronic smoke. What was I saying???? Oh yes, we need some more raw PM output. Lead from the front Phil, lets hear some more recent Sound/Mixcloud axxxion!
Thanks all.
Craig
ParticipantCheers guys, there are some leads here I probably wouldn’t have found otherwise!
Thanks especially to Terry_42; as Keymaster, may you find your Gatekeeper and even prepare for the coming of Gozer.
I’ll try to physically check out the Zomos, Phil’s review (http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2012/07/review-video-zomo-hd-1200-dj-headphones/) specifically mentioned “<span style=”background-color: #f7f7f7; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Tahoma, sans-serif;”>Of course, they’re not built for long-term comfort for wearing, rather for continually pulling on and off your head.</span>”, but the proof’s in the wearing.
Craig
ParticipantYeah, the only thing that has kept me off the decks was an ingrown big toenail. Couldn’t stand on it or even be upright for any length of time. Lost a residency over it too…
Sorry, it’s a bit gross, that’s the risk you take when you ask questions like this!
Hope your knee gets better Phil.
Craig
ParticipantActually Terry, there is an acknowledged issue with the Serato Remote for people using the iPad with a Windows PC. This is not specifically related to the iOS 7 update but things are far from peachy with this combo. Not a happy camper here….
Craig
ParticipantThanks for the response Chuck. I do a radio show and am looking at the the post-master EQs on the radio panel to notice the difference in levels. I did my show last night and noticed more variation than I previously did.
I think I’ll do a bit more testing and see how it goes.
Craig
ParticipantBut that’s my point Tel, I’m not a professional, never will be, don’t have professional gear, and don’t need or want a professional bag. I do want a midi-and-laptop specific bag, but it doesn’t have to be ‘ballistic grade nylon’ with waterproof zips. I don’t want it to fall apart, but I’m not doing the Miami-Ibiza leg every week either.
It seems the manufacturers are surfing on the wave of everyone with a controller wanting the absolute best kit, whether it’s overkill or not and all Magma have done to claim budget status on this series is price it lower than their other bags. It’s still not cheap.
I demand frugality!!Craig
ParticipantThanks guys, the last two responses are kind of the way I was leaning.
I think I’ll keep the key folders, put all of the ripped tracks into the key folders (that’ll be a fun job…) and use smart crates and playlists from there. I also saw a post from Phil recommending using the stars for energy levels (similar to your case set up Red Eye). Seems like that’ll be the way I’ll go.
Thanks for the responses guys, much appreciated. If anyone else has got any tips on file structure/management, I’d still love to hear ’em.Craig

Thanks El Tel, and thanks for the other replies as well.
Craig
ParticipantThanks Fic, much appreciated.
Craig
ParticipantThanks Fic, I presumed that would be the case.
I have got DJ Intro on the disc that came with the Mixtrack Pro and was unsure that if I have to put in some kind of unique code (such as the serial number of the Mixtrack) that I would not be able to install on my laptop when it arrives.
Do you know about this angle?

ParticipantHi Harry,
After somewhat humiliatingly reading this was the number 1 email/post to DDJT, I steeled myself to navigate the labyrinth that is the Virtual DJ forums in search of an answer. I found going in via Google to be a better way and eventually stumbled across this page: http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/MixTrack%20Pro.html.
I thought I had tried this configuration – obviously not. It now works the way it should. It did make me wonder though, if this is the number one question, why is it so hard to find a simple answer on DDJT?
Harry, thanks for your response, that is your good deed for the day.
