its really up to the promoter. there are 2 types: one that is against all controllers and one that doesn’t care what you use as long as you can hook it up to the mixer

Good: Sound quality is amazing and it is very comfortable. Being able to switch from mono-stereo is very convenient.

Bad: Heavy, makes being a cyclops DJ kinda difficult. Also the bag that it comes with is nice but too small.

ouch…that is rough. that promoter screwed you over. you really have to take what promoters say with a grain of salt. chances are they have no idea about the scene or how it works and its just some guy who wants to make money partying. you have to try to get in touch of the event coordinator and get all the details directly from them. i literally have to ask some promoters the same question 10 times because they aren’t giving me enough detail or answering the question at all.

as for the sound thing, you gotta be at the venue at least an hour before the event even begins. cant tell you exactly what happened with your situation but thats what the time is for. some of these hybrid venues have weird setups because of the live instrument equipment vs the dj mixer. also watch out for those early sets in situations like this…sometimes its a spillover dinner crowd that will be completely different than the later crowd when the venue is known to switch to a club type setting.

yes! that article is exactly what i was referring to. probably one of the best series written up so far and i would love to continue discussion on that. i was definitely not referring to a subsection where people post their events

^agreed. too many people are acting like calling our music EDM is a crime but what else would we call it? we can’t call it house anymore.

s2 is absolutely okay to play at a club provided that you let the venue/promoter know in advance that you will be bringing it in. some places are not okay with you plugging things into their mixer, so you might have to coordinate with them to come in early and do a sound check of some sort.

but you can be confident that these are pro level equipment. if im not mistaken, when i saw above & beyond the other day, their opening DJ andrew bayer was using an s4.

well if it was a charity event and not an official club event, people probably just wanted to go home D:

I sort my songs out in playlists labeled New (Month). I only buy 5-10 songs a month and I play the crap out of them so it helps my sets evolve slowly.
