I don’t know if this applies to you, but I have my recording gain set to +6 dB, but I also don’t ever go over the midway point on the equalizer nor fool around with the gain on the controller.

Thanks guys. I may go ahead and upgrade to 2.6 tomorrow. I’m doing a small gig Saturday for family and friends so I’m not worried about any issues with the program.

I DJ’ed friday and Saturday using the clubs DJM800 and CDJ 2000 in HID mode with Traktor, was going to use Rekordbox but the lan switch stopped working, and like better the DDJ SX over that setup.

Hey GJ. Is it a difficult task to map the DDJ SX with Traktor? Did you come up with your own map, or is there one available for anyone to use?

    Ohhh ok….makes sense now.

Thank you all for the responses. The Denon MC6000 which is what I have now can be used as a stand alone mixer so as a back up I could use an iPod. Just as clarification…I’m referring to the mixing consoles that are used in conjunction with the contoller. Examples are the A&H Zed 10FX or the 14.

Running an iTunes playlist through one of the lines of the mixer will work too I suppose.

What version of iTunes are you using? I never had problems I described until upgrading to iTunes 11 recently.

LOL…Thank goodness. That DJ made me wonder the entire night about his tactics.

These songs have been imported from iTunes. When I went into iTunes to play these tracks it just jumped to the next track.”

Question: Are you sure the songs downloaded (or imported) correctly into iTunes? I asked because just last week I downloaded a track and assumed everything was fine until I opened up Traktor Pro 2.5 and loaded the track. The wave forms looked weird and the name of the song was missing on the A Deck. However, the name of the song read correctly in the browser.

I opened up iTunes and tried to play the song, but software skipped to the next song. To remedy the problem I deleted the song altogether and re-downloaded it from the Cloud. All was perfect again. I’m not sure why that happened, but it was the first time. I wonder if it’s a bug with iTunes 11. If it means anything I purchased the songs using a pc running Windows XP, and allowed the Macbook to download the songs at a later time. Both machines are running iTunes 11.

With that said delete a corrupted song and re-download it from the Cloud in iTunes. See if the track plays correctly in iTunes. Then open Traktor and see if it works correctly there.

I think from now on I’m going to continue listening to all songs purchased through iTunes shortly after making the purchase or before opening any other software such as Mixed in Key and Traktor.

Thanks for the heads up Gulli. I wonder if this is a legality issue with the use of Serato in general because VDJ and Traktor Pro allow one to mix and record without the use of a controller.

Can you mix and record with Serato DJ without having a controller plugged in like you can with Traktor Pro?

I’m no expert, but I would definitely look into only playing the Christmas tunes during the dinner or cocktail hour.
