I bought that mess off of iTunes so you know I’m hot that Amazon had it for only 89 cents..LOL. I will say this….there are a lot of young kids doing what I think they call “yiken” or “yiking” and it’s very disturbing to see young kids doing it and then uploading the videos to Youtube. *shaking my head*

Wow, people really like the Red Nose song? Sounds like whoever produced the song was lazy and didn’t want to loop the beat for 3/4 of the track. I’m just in shock ppl like the song..lol.

If you’re a dj what the hell are you doing at my party? Why is another dj at another dj’s booth and not djing?

    Congrats for landing the residency!

Maybe your wrote that because dude was being a total goof, but I have to respectfully disagree with your sentiment here. One would think DJ’s go to clubs, weddings, etc. and take notes of what other DJ’s do so that they can improve on their craft. Like me, I’m sure you like to keep up with what tracks are heaters at clubs, weddings, private parties, etc. If that’s not the case I’m not sure how you were able to point out what other DJ’s are currently playing right? I won’t play someone’s set, but I do take mental notes about the pros and cons of other DJs. It can only make you a better DJ to know what moves the audience. Hence, why I like to come here and get advice from you good folks.

In any event, I did like your stories and the gig log. I’m always learning from you guys.

Thanks Chuck!!! This was VERY HELPFUL!!! The DJ I’m shadowing will be the perfect person to help me with this issue as he’s a sound guy too which is his second job..lol. Later this summer, I get to learn about setting up a stage for a small concert with him.

BTW, so the Yamaha MC102C ($100) is a good all purpose mixer for Mobile DJing? That mixer is good on the pockets compared to the Allen & Heath ZED10FX Mixer ($299) I was thinking of getting later. It rec’d a lot of positive reviews too!

I was highly impressed by their price point too. But please be sure to give us a quick review after Wednesday. I haven’t seen anything on Youtube yet, but I’ll probably end up better served checking out forums for people’s thoughts.

How are the speakers so far? Sounds like you just got them so I’m not sure if you had a chance to do a gig with them.

Huh? My statement was about knowing how to set up and break down your equipment; not about being able to leave on time..LOL.

BTW, did you get paid overtime for staying late?

Hey, congrats! My little two cents would be, if you haven’t already practiced this already, is to practice setting up and breaking down your equipment and having your gig bag in order. Makes for getting in and out of the pub much easier.

True, the MC6000 is over his budget. Made edit to reflect. Thanks.

Hey, this is a great topic for me to re-read as it relates to the must have music DJ’s have in their arsenal. Glad it was rehashed by the Poundz and kept current by Dizzle!!!

DJ Cu..Cu..Cu..be..be..DJ Cube! *scratching* Ok, explain this one for the group. How did you end up with the Mixtrack Pro? Did you buy it on your own? Did someone give it to you as a present? If so why did they choose to give you a mixer of all things and not an iPod or something?

Surely, there is a reason why you have the Mixtrack Pro? Just trying to see if we can do a little soul searching.

Chuck van Eekelen, post: 41325, member: 2756 wrote: Denon MC3000 anyone?

+1 Chuck! I think Leoone would be better served if he added the Denon MC3000 and MC6000* on his list before making his final decision. They both fit your criteria of using VDJ and Traktor. I use the MC6000 and love it. I wanted to switch to Pioneer DDJ-SX (and Serato), but the MC6000 (and Traktor) have been solid for me so far.

*EDIT: MC6000 is over OP’s budget.

Try these, they haven’t been mentioned yet, and always got my floor moving at the time:

Digital Underground – The Humpty Dance*
SWV – Right Here Right now (The Remix with Michael Jackson sample)
    MC Hammer – 2 Legit 2 Quit*
    Guy – I wanna
Wrexx n’ Effect – New Jack Swing
    Naughty By Nature – OPP*
EMPD – You Gots to Chill
Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam – Let the Beat Hit ‘Em*
C+C Music Factory – Everybody Dance Now*
    Laid Back – White Horse
Jodeci – Come and Stay with me (Slow Jam)
Prince Classics (Erotic City, Let’s Work, etc.)
Timex Social Club / Club Nouveau – Rumors
Keith Sweat (Forgot his big hits, but he’s was mandatory at early 90’s BBQ’s)
TLC – Friends and other early hits
MC Breed (Forgot song name, but it was a G-Funk hit)
Run DMC’s Hits – Hard Times, Walk this way*, Peter Piper
De La Souls Early Hits – Me Myself & I, etc.

There’s probably a lot more, but these are the ones I could remember.
    * These were big Top 40 hits

Thanks, Homei! Question. I was looking for a better and cleaner version of Timex Social Club’s “Rumors” a few months ago and noticed that iTunes/Amazon have them listed under Club Nouveau. I know the two groups were together at some point and were beefing back in the day, but do you know why Rumors isn’t listed under TSC? Just curious.
