ParticipantIs it possible to have the client responsible for any accidents that happen to your gear while DJ’ing the party? Perhaps they have a solution to keep folks away from your gear? Also, what if you had a side kick to help you take requests and be a second pair of eyes to be sure no one came around the gear?

ParticipantI’m originally from ATL and I’m not really familiar with DC Go Go Music unless you asked me a little about Chuck Brown and DJ Kool…LOL. When Baltimore native, Frank Ski (formerly of V103 ATL), threw Northern Exposure parties several years ago I would get those quick fixes of Chicago House, DC Go Go, and Hip Hop music. Other than Northern Exposure and college parties where people from the Midwest, North and South partied I wasn’t too hip to the Go Go scene.
Oh, as far as line dances I was referring to the steppers line dancing that’s pretty big in Detroit and other places around the country. If you go to Youtube and look up M&M Pump Line Dance, Jamie Foxx I Don’t Need It Line Dance, etc. those are the dances I am referring to.

ParticipantQuestion, Milos. Do you know if Philly into Go Go Music like DC, MD, and VA? What about Line/Ballroom Dances? I know Detroit and Chicago are really into it, but I’m not sure about Philly, NY, etc.

ParticipantNever had any of these problems while playing around in Traktor at home. But of course I just unchecked the “limiter” in Traktor so I didn’t know any problems or bugs existed until this past Saturday. Seems like NI needs to tweak Traktor in more ways than one. It’s sad to say, but it appears I may need to use iTunes or MixMiester(?) as alternatives to using Cruise mode in Traktor.

ParticipantGEEEEEESH!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Drew!!! This is awful and I’m a little peev’d that there are rules to Cruise Mode. Wow!!! Thanks for sharing. It’s annoying knowing that I’ll have to work around this “feature” going from Dinner Music (which is what I was playing at the time) to Dancing.
Coltrane09
ParticipantOk, thanks.

ParticipantThanks, Chuck. I think I misspoke about the “Main volume”. It may be the “Gain”. When looking at the clock in Traktor to the right there is “Main” and directly below that there is a setting for “Main”. I have mine set to -0.5 db. I have the Master Volume on the controller set half way, and now that I have the limiter disabled I run the faders at “0”.
When you get a chance please let me know where you have your “Main” setting set to in Traktor. Thanks.
Coltrane09
ParticipantBTW, what do you have your Master Volume on the controller set on? And do you keep the faders on “0”? Lastly, what is your Main Volume set to in Traktor? Does it matter what the setting is if you’re controlling everything on the controller?

ParticipantSo on the back of the MC6000 for Mix Mode there is an option for PC Mix v. Int Mix. When I switched to Int Mix everything was fine until I tried to use my Remix/Sample Decks for my DJ drops. The sample decks are set on Channels 1 and 4 on the controller and the controller didn’t respond. Switching everything back to PC Mix on the controller and internal mix for Traktor brought everything back online.
I guess there is no way to use the sample decks on the controller using Int Mix?

ParticipantAt the time when I looked at the settings I didn’t have a lot of time to play around with it, but I will check the other settings you mentioned now. I noticed that when I clicked on “External Mixer” in Traktor that the MC6000 didn’t respond. However, I am wondering if that has anything to do with the “A-THRU-B” Channel settings (on front of device)? I bet it does. The faders moved, but the volume didn’t. I had everything set on “THRU”. I just turned everything on and will report back shortly. But I’m all about freeing up processor capacity.
Coltrane09
ParticipantOk, so the MC6000 is set to PC, MAC. Traktor is set to “Internal Mixing”.
Coltrane09
ParticipantThis evening, I’ll be sure to check the back of the controller and make sure it’s set correctly.

ParticipantThanks, Terry. Yep, I’m just getting something for those really small small venues/gatherings where I would elect not to bring the laptop and controller, but use an iPod instead.

ParticipantI would go with JDLX’s suggestions if you want to be more specific, but for the most part most people will dance to the Top 40, Michael Jackson, Pop, etc. I witnessed a corporate function where the DJ was simply playing music from LMFAO, Black Eyed Peas, etc. and the ethnic make up varied. People were dancing all over the place. The DJ didn’t do any fancy mixing either. Hec, I don’t think he mixed at all…lol. You should do fine if you have Top 40, MJ, Pop, and don’t forget your line dancing songs, Wobble (everybody wobbles these days), Cupid Shuffle, Cha Cha Slide, etc.
Good luck and congrats for landing the gig. Be sure you have your business cards on deck.

LOL…I reluctantly bought that trash for a gig I’m doing today and next week. However, after seeing more of the videos on Youtube I don’t know if we want to turn the family reunion into a freak show.
