You should use a DUAL RCA to DUAL TS like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-Cable-HOS-CPR201-Dual/dp/B000068O16 to go from the controller to the Yamaha Mixer 3/4 or 5/6 channel.

Thanks Chuck and Terry. Ok, so I’ll run the mains (15’s) a little wide and forward away from the DJ booth. That way the vocalist is behind the speakers. I’ll place the K12 a few feet away from the DJ table and lay it on the floor as a wedge.

I ordered the EMP6 yesterday and it should be here tomorrow!!! Yes, new gear! LOL Thanks for the word of caution about the using the AUX outputs.

Ok, thanks Chuck. I had someone to tell me to do it the other way around at a gig we were doing. Maybe he didn’t understand what I was telling him, but there’s only so many ways I can tell you I run my controller at 12 o’clock and make adjustments if needed after the compact has been set for the environment/master.

Yeah, that’s the thing. I normally EQ the Behringer for the room during the sound check and leave the EQ’s on the Denon MC6000 neutral. Once I set the Behringer for the room during the sound check, I don’t touch it ever again. If I want to give a little low end, high or mid I do it on the MC6000. Does that make sense now?

Given that channel 7/8 only has a HIGH and LOW EQ I don’t have the ability to tweak the MID during the sound check. I’ve been doing it that way since I’ve been shadowing a DJ/Sound guy. Is that not the common practice of setting your levels on a compact mixer?

That MC166CX is a beast, but I confident only needing no more than 4 MIC channels.

    Thanks.

Ok, I have a question about the Yamaha Mixers and similar mixers with this particular layout.

    http://usa.yamaha.com/products/live_sound/mixers/analog-mixers/mg_series_c_models/mg102c/?mode=model

I’m used to using a Behringer Xenyx 802 (http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/802.aspx) that has a MID EQ knob for all channels. However, for the Yamaha MG102C there is no MID EQ for channels 7-10. Those channels only have a HIGH and LOW EQ knob.

If I’m using all 4 of the Mic inputs with the Yamaha MG102C this means that I will not be able to adjust the MID EQ when I plug my controller/mixer into Channel 7/8. I will only have the HIGH and LOW EQ to adjust. I can adjust the MID on the controller/mixer, but I like to run my controllers’ EQ’s at 12 o’clock.

Am I approaching this whole ordeal incorrectly? The controllers to have MID EQ’s across the board seem to cost more, but is it necessary for me to have spend more if I’m approaching the science behind everything wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

I use a 4 channel controller, Denon MC6000, with Traktor Pro and I have Channels 1 & 4 set to my back up devices such as two Denon CD Players (DNS1200s) or 1 DNS1200 and an iPod. Channels 2 & 3 are set to midi control and used with Traktor’s decks. It makes life easier for me especially since the Denon MC6000 can work as a stand alone mixer in case my laptop fails.

It sounds like you will likely need to roll back to the previous version of the MAC OS. Unless something has changed within the past couple of weeks, I do not believe Serato DJ is fully supported on Mavericks.
Engine will not analyze a track in a playlist under iTunes. Once the playlist is imported, then it starts analyzing. Once that is done, I can make cues, set loops, all that stuff. The software is still very clunky, if I play a file, the waveform is really jerky, especially when you have a loop going. Not that impressive. Hopefully the beat detection/bpm counter is good.
Sort of the way Traktor works.

I don’t know about the timing of you landing the gig to learning that you will have to use CDJs, but I hope you’ve learned a valuable lesson here, Chacres.

I hope you were able to get to a pro audio store and play around with the model of the CDJ the club has, or at least burned the midnight oil studying Youtube videos about the players.

Good luck.  Please return and let us know how the gig went.

Have you tried looking up the mapping via Google yet? I don’t know how the mappings work with the SX, but it may be worth a shot to watch users who’ve uploaded videos to Youtube.
