The part that was most attractive to me was that it was made to work with traktor, as well as work stand alone and it is very fail proof to the extent that if your laptop dies, you can continue to play whatever song was playing because the engine software literally loads whatever song was on your laptop into the sc2900. I think that the next series of “cd players” there will be no more “cd’s”. Just USB/SD card slots for stand alone play as a safeguard, and full intergation with traktor/serato. That is the ultimate end point in my opinion. After Pioneer is finished with this “nexus” series I think they will nix the cd play and keep it to USB/SD cards.
As for the sample pads and what not, I’m not sure if I would use those. I am traditionally a trance and progressive guy, but I also do love techno. Techno is a very good genre to use sample pads and loops with, but trance, not so much haha.
