As Terry said, its never to late. It maybe a bit more challenging, because noone gets younger. But impossible? no. As for DJs, the audience cares more about the right music played than the skills.

For the stage fright, i had to deal with it myself. But not primarily as a DJ, but as a theatre actor. My advice – leave out the drink. And practice. Get some friends to listen to your mix. I have stage fright everytime i do something in front of people – presentations, dj, theatre… Stage fright a is part of the perfomance. If you dont have at least a little bit, you’re lying 😉
As a tip: I do a few simple yoga breathing technics to calm myself down.
The best thing is that, mostly, the stage fright leaves you if you’re 10-15minutes in it.

Don’t give up your dreams because you’re to “old”. I started learning the piano at the age of 24, which is too old considering the meaning of some people. But to i care? no, i have fun, make little progress each practice-session and go on. The most important factors are, as stated by Terry: Love it and love the music you play! Everything else comes with time. You have to start somewhere! Or would you like looking back to today in 20 years, thinking “aah, why didn’t i started?”. I did that mistake by myself – mainly because of the opinion of others.

You find your way, i assure you – some way or another 🙂

Or just use MIXXX ( click ) 🙂 I used it with my Hercules MP3 DJ Control before getting a S2 (and Traktor, obviously). Its a great piece of DJ software, has an excellent mapping for the Hercules Controller and the best of all – It’s totally free.
And it runs on MAC/PC/Linux. Definitly recommended.

Better than loading some cracks for Traktor and wrecking your PC – Or telling someone you dont want to know it your CreditCard informations 😉

Me soon, mine should arrive next week 🙂

Im definitly looking forward to it, although the remixdecks already got hacked for use with the midifighter3D – but shipping costs & toll makes it not an option for me 😉

Hope NI roll out their updates for 2.5 fast… sudden freezes are no fun for anyone…

I’m on a noodle-diet too – why are toys for men so expensive :/ LEGO’s were cheaper 🙂

On Android i recommend the XY + PAD view with “TouchDAW” – i just started figuring out how to use the pad for effects – its definitly fun =)

    Thank you Guys =)

I really can’t afford to loose my good ear , so i already kepp the volume down (but its louder what other people are considering as “normal” xD )

@ DJ Manhattan: Fun & music is on the Top of my list 🙂

Sadly, my new s2 broke already – the Gainfader sends all-time midi signal, making it unusable – Gladly i got one month warranty left X) now i have nothing to play around with 🙁 Only my old Herc MP3 e2 😉
2-3 weeks repair or instant replacement – i hope its not repairable 😉

@ Eric Garret: Yes, the techology is incredible – making the entry to djing easy. But i would like to learn beatmatching manually, escpecially if i have to take over from a turntable DJ (later that year i have the chance to dj at a local funfair with a CDDJ – plenty of time to practice beatmatching a bit)

I’m surprised how many djs in this forum are hard of hearing / have hearing loss. I thought i was the only one xD
    It’s good to see i’m not 🙂

@ Steelo: The cue/mix knob is pure awesome 🙂 and, btw, how many controllers do you have? 😉

Thank you for your answers and sorry for being a bit late myself 😉

I really appreciate your advice! Got some good news today – my cousin (a dj, too) is buying a kontrol s4, giving me his “old” s2 for a special family price, 100€ 😀 i’m a tiny bit excited when it arrives tomorrow – and its got a cue/mix knob.

@ Frosh: So I definitely follow your advice 🙂

@ D.J.Manhatten: Thank you for your encouragement and tips! It helps a lot!

@ IsnremiX: This guy is really amazing, thank you for pointing me to his site 🙂

I guess im ready to start to practice tomorrow with my brand “new” s2 =)
I think i will post in the forum a bit more from now on, questions and such things 😉

    Cheers
