Hi Jshster!

with all this little helpers you’re always tempted to catch a glimpse at them 😉

So, like you said, put a paper in front of your screen, disable the bpm-infos in your traktor settings or try to beatmatch to a “live” audio source, like a track playing on a cd off your stereo.
You can buy a turntable and some records, “cheating” is impossible 😉 But i don’t think this will be a solution for you.

Besides the Turntable every other solution requires a quite a bit of discipline.

you can do it, i’m sure 🙂

You’re welcome!

Sometimes I tease listeners with a snippet of a song, too. Especially during the breaks. But more often I layer things since i spin more minimal stuff.
If you like techno/tech-house, check out some of my mixes – if you want

Hi FleXe,

I just finished listening to your mix while chopping fresh vegetables for a soup 😉
First of all, I highly doubt that anyone here on the digital(!)djtips forum would blame you for using the sync-button 😛
Being able to beatmatch by ear is a valuable (and kinda hard to learn) skill to have, though.

Your mix flows very vell, the only thin that jumped to my ear was the drop around 34 minutes – its too sudden and takes out too much energy. You know what part i mean?
Another thing is, to the end your mix becomes significantly louder, all of a sudden – i had to turn down my volume! Watch your gains!

I also recognized some parts being off-beat, but in the viewpoint of a listener, not as a DJ, it feels not as a mistake 🙂
Everytime i hear a mix in a genre that i don’t spin (at the moment) i feel like i have to expand my music collection and dig for, in your case, some DnB tracks 😀

To sum it up: Nice Mix, keep it going!

I would go with:

Faderfox DJ 3 ( http://www.faderfox.de/dj3.html )
Native Audio 2 ( http://www.native-instruments.com/#/de/products/dj/traktor-audio-2/)
Minirig Speaker and a Netbook (or a Laptop/Macbook)

There’s a review by Phil on the DJ 3:

That would fit in a Backpack i guess 😀

I have to agree with Hee Won Jung!

I did the mistake of buying too much gear (G.A.S. 😉 ) and now i have to force myself to get to know each piece of my gear properly before stepping to the next. My F1 lies waste at the moment, i’m concentrating on my S4 and maschine (and daily beatmatching exercises with my TT 😉 )

Maybe at one day, you learn/practice something on your Denon, the other day on your Launchpad and the third day you could think of doing some tricks with both. This way getting to know your gear gets more varied, less boring. Make yourself a little practice plan to stick to your goals 😉

This is just a suggestion, I do it this way and it works for me – Hope it helps a little 🙂

It’s a good little Mix – Could be a little longer, but thats not the point 😉 Track Selection is fine, too – Had to dig out some of my trance tunes after listening to it 😉

The first image that came instantly into my mind:

Eminem, dressed in a nice suit and a hat, sitting in a old-style bar and jamming with a fantastic live band. 😀

It fits oddly well! Very well done, i like it very much 🙂 Thumbs up!

PS: I started laughing when your gangnam style mashup came up after this 😉 ( it’s good, too)

I agree with you – Drop Squad is indeed more versatile than electric vice. Have you had a look at dark pressure? 😉

Have fun playing with massive & happy melodymaking! Spend your nights turning knobs and changing parameters -Terry_42 is right, it will be more than 30hours 😉
I was totally overwhelmed with all the knobs/macros/routing options – but i’m very happy i have it, more so because it was free 🙂

Hi nietzsky,

for your preferred genre i would either go for drop squad or electric vice – These are the heavy sounds you may be looking for 😉

i myself like dark pressure / raw voltage the most – dark/analog/experimental – you should consider one of them too to add some spice to your productions 🙂

It sounds very good for a first production 🙂 For me, the introduction of the second melody at 2:15 doesn’t put up with the feeling build up in the intro (melody-wise). I would have packed it in a different song. Nonetheless, i like the second melody as well 😉

I have Back Pain myself and i only can repeat what everyone else said. I do a few exercises everyday, it really helps, but you have to do them regularly.
But during a gig, most exercises will look rather silly 😉 I can only imagine that you could put on some work-out tune, bang out an roll mat, walk in front of the booth and invite everyone to do the exercises with you 😀 Doesn’t sound so bad 😉

Thats so true 🙂

Just finished listened to your mix. Nice work, enjoyed it 🙂

One thing though (hope i put it in the right words, kinda hard to explain); The music selection is good, but i think (more like a feeling 😉 ) that the Housey-Disco-Part at the end of the takes to much drive out of the mix which previously build up. My ears were expecting something different – like when you listen to a song and think “now, good song though, but that part doesn’t fit with the rest” Maybe more driving disco house? But maybe its all me, and everybody else likes it that way 😉

Keep it up!
