ParticipantYeah, i wrote to the writer, it seems it is a website bug that news sometimes get sucked into the nirvana :/
It’s still there, but not visible any more:
But i wanted to share it here anyway 😉

ParticipantThank you guys 🙂
Maybe i’ll spray a pattern on top of the orange plates, since it’s now easy to remove them 😉

ParticipantYeah, right – I guess thats what makes a DJ a DJ : “I want THIS specific obscure remix to surprise the crowd, not any other”.
That’s why I’m recently happily plunging through my vinyl collection to rescue tunes that where never digitally available onto my hard-drive, letting the people hear something they’ve probably never heard before. Especially nowadays where (nearly) every music is of digital origin and a CD is available as MP3,too.
It even makes me a little sad that so many (probably) great tracks are never to be discovered/lost because they’re on out of print vinyl. But otherwise, today there’s an overabundance of music and potential great tunes, so i shouldn’t complain 😉
“Jude on a ragga t(r)ip”? Now i’ve heard it all 😀
PS: why can’t i change my profile-picture? There’s no option for that :/

Participant*sigh* I did a new searching approach and searched for the author of an AMV (anime music video) i stumbled upon that has this Song in it. Turns out on there is a high(er) quality version of this AMV for download (uploaded 2006 or so). I get an 160 kb/s audio file from it – at least that’s something 🙂 Furthermore, i tried to contact the author of said video, still waiting for an answer…
I find it really frustrating not being able to grab a track i like in a decent quality. Normally this only happens to me if the track i want is on an vinyl wich is out of print – but then i can at least search on discogs for the vinyl.
How often does something like this happen to you?

ParticipantThank you for answering! i should have mentionend i’m searching for a high-quality file, 320kb/s-ish.
I already tried youtube rips, the bitrate of the audio is about 107vbr to 128cbr at its best – and it sounds atroucious on my home-system/good headphones :/
But thanks nevertheless!

ParticipantFirst of all, there’s no possibility to run the X1 (mk1/mk2) into the ipad at the moment, only the Z1, S2/S4MK2 will do the trick.
I bought the Z1 as a backup, too. I find it more convenient than using only the iPad.
Although the Z1/X1 combo is pretty small, i would miss the jogwheels – but if you’re happy with two decks and sync everything, you’re good to go.
In your situation i would suggest the following:
Upgrade to an S2 MK2 and ditch (or not) the Z1, carrying only your S2, laptop and iPad around. This way you can swap out the Laptop with the iPad if your PC crashes and have pretty much the same functionality. You could even leave the Laptop at home, only using S2MK2 and your iPad. And you can always use your iPad only, with a splitter cable, as a Backup.
I have an S4MkI and always have the iPad & a splitter cable with me. I also have a Z1, which I use mostly for small gigs like partys under the sky, impromptu gigs and for having a portable DJ setup when i’m travelling and can’t go without some mixing 😉
Hope it helps!

ParticipantThank you for your reply!
Maybe I’m too clumsy to use the short ones… . I looked into switching to CDJs as well, but the amount of money i have to shell out opposed to the amount I have available … well, you can guess. Guess i have to cope with it until there’s a Traktor controller with bigger faders.
It may seem not as a big issue to others, but i’m really frustrated how well it worked on the Terminal Mix 4 🙁
I considered going for an DDJ-SX, but that would mean ditching Traktor and the integration of Maschine how i would like it – but thats the most likely thing i would go for, routing Maschine tough a live-channel on the DDj-SX.
I’m very indecisive on what to do, but maybe i’m seeing to much of a problem there.
You’re right, maybe some one other has a tip/hint for me – second opinions never hurt!
Greetings! 🙂

ParticipantYou can always remap your x1 to your liking 🙂 I can recommend http://www.faderfox.de/dx3.html this one, extremely small and versatile, easy to map. But you are without good hotcues or remix deck controls, so maybe an lpd8 would be nice, too.
A F1 Is excellent for loop, hotcue and fx control if you map it yourself – fx on knobs/faders and loop/ hotcue on pads. It even comes with a map especially for the purpose for using it as a conplementary controller with a dvs setup, which would be to your liking. and As an extra you can switch to full remix deck control any time 🙂
Best look for a controller with the knobs/pads/buttons/faders you need and map them. You nearly always end up with controls you have no use for at the moment 🙂

Nice message there, jahitty! You have to stop when your listening to yourself listing reasons why you will be unsuccessful, don’t make it, etc… and just do something. Funny thing is if you tell this yourself long enough you’ll believe it. I can tell, overcoming my trepidation was hard enough. On top of that others question you, too.
Be happy what you have and make the best out of it, could always be worse! 🙂

Yeah, systems failure is on top of my list of fears, too. I’m so glad about TraktorDJ on iPad – this and a splitter cable and you’re good to go!
Regarding the nervousness – i’m always nervous as hell. But i played 4 years as an actor at a theater, this helped a ton with nervousness in front of an audience. And little bit is great to keep your brain active – if you’re not nervous you’re doing something wrong 😉

Thank you very for the compliment 🙂
Yeah, i try to mix everything i like. Which is a lot – Next on the list will be Drum and Bass (i think 😉 )
To learn mixing a genre i haven’t mixed before, i have the following approach:
When i find a new genre i want to try (and haven’t got enough tracks) i go on digging till i have approximately the number of tracks for about an hour. And then, with that relatively limited number of songs to choose from, i try to make a whole set. I listen to every track and try to find a suitable mix for it. Doing it this way, i have to go trough every one of the new tracks and “analyze” them to make a fluent set in the end. Helps learning the tracks 😉 Of course, if i play out i have more choices. But when i’m recording a mix i try to only do it with the new tracks.

ParticipantChuck van Eekelen, post: 43026, member: 2756 wrote: Uhm … no pitch bend = correct … but not quite sure what you mean with you have to beat match the track you’re mixing out. I mean you can slowly change the tempo of the playing track (sync heartbeat) to match that of the incoming track (or even faster/slower than that).
Or do you mean something else?
Greetinx,
C.I think it was a little bit misleading what i’ve said, heres what i meant:
Mixing out of Traktor Pro into Traktor DJ would mean you have to nudge the track of Traktor pro to match the phase tp the Track of TraktorDj if your timing is a bit off. And beatmatching with the wheel (Heartbeat) on TraktorDj is far to fiddly for me. Honestly, I completly forgot about it until you mentioned it  I essentially meant that i don’t aprove of the lack of a proper pitchfader/suitable replacementin TraktorDj.
Hope its clearer now (i don’t think so, im a bit tired 😉 )

ParticipantTerry_42, post: 42903, member: 1843 wrote: Platform sync wont happen (well never say never, but nothing is announced).
They are both independent platforms as of yet.
So best you can do is mix the 2 together via a standalone mixer or via the mixer function of the controller and match both by ear (aka the old way).
But since the MC3000 is really good, I cannot see much of a benefit on using the iPad with it, apart from laptop failure.I second that. Beat matching would be quite annoying since you cant pitchbend on Traktor DJ to this time, so you have to beat match the track you’re mixing out – Which would irritate me a lot.
A an standalone backup, an iPad with TraktorDJ is awesome. I’m interested on how you were planning to use it in your performance?
