ParticipantExcept I don’t just have extra work sitting around to do… I have to work with what I have. That is more brains than money, so that’s what I go with.

ParticipantI came up with a workable solution to the tempo control on the Instinct being a rocker switch instead of a fader. The Vinyl button tends to be the Shift button on this controller, so I made it so that if that’s held down, then the volume faders turn into the tempo faders. I set them to Soft Takeover (both the original volume fader configuration and the new tempo fader configuration) so that I have to move the slider to where it is in the program’s UI before it starts moving, so that I don’t have the volume or tempo jumping wildly when I’m shifting between them.
I’m currently in the process of adding in some additional configuration so that pressing Vinyl + the Track Up or Down selector will switch the controls between decks 1+2 and decks 3+4, including switching which is expanded, and then all the knobs switch over to that other deck.
I realize it’s a fair amount of effort to put into it (the fiddly bits of configuration can be a bit confusing), but I’m managing to really get some extra bang for my buck out of a cheap controller.

ParticipantWhat about going with what you had before you tried to make it fit with music? Cam Dup Soul. That has the sound you were looking for, but it reduces the “Dub” confusion.

ParticipantIs the Z1 crap? It’s got no jogs, but it seems like a starting DJ focusing on Traktor may not needs jogs right away.

ParticipantDANGIT! I used encoded chars, but it still interpreted them. Trying again:

I replaced the greater-than/less-than with brackets, but that should HOPEFULLY give you the idea of what you’re doing wrong.

ParticipantJeroen – When you use the “link” thing, make sure you put something between the tags, like so:

ParticipantUseful link, thanks!

Participant(Though I am already adjusting EQ by ear and am happy with the result… it would just be a nice extra set of data.)

ParticipantHonestly, for me, it’s more about seeing the shape of the music better, and getting feedback on how the EQ affects the spectrum range.
