ParticipantI wholeheartedly agree with what you say about Traktor’s mapping once you understand it – it is super powerful. I have done some pretty sweet tricks to tweak the way my cheap controller operates to give it more functionality than what it ships with, phsyically – like making shift+volume act as the pitch slider since the Instinct only has a rocker switch for pitch adjustment.

ParticipantYou didn’t click on the link.
It’s a link to a particular strip of a comic I read that makes a DJ joke, and my phrasing plays up that joke further.

ParticipantHowdy, welcome!

ParticipantGlad to help in any way I can!

ParticipantI would go so far as to say that I believe eliminating remixes would probably hurt sales, because additional vectors of getting attention for your music helps people to notice it more, and gives them a greater chance of getting that hook stuck in their ear.

ParticipantI’ll be playing Bobby C Sound TV’s remix of This is Halloween during my Halloween set, dunno if that will work with your style but that’s right in my genre.

ParticipantOut of curiosity, is there something wrong with the official mapping from Gemini?

ParticipantWell put another shrimp on the barbie, mate!
Just kidding, I know the difference between Austria and Australia… welcome, good to meet you!

ParticipantYeah, and your mappings will shift and transform more… it’s going to really be brilliant.
I suspect we’ll also see new interfaces where you don’t need physical knobs and sliders, but instead you interact with your music in a 3D space.
That, though, I suspect we’ll see in production use before DJing.

ParticipantOne thought that occurs to me – I agree with Phil’s review where he says that the screens are going to become commonplace (though it seems like they’re probably going to have to be software specific, which sucks with a capital SUCKS), but in another thread here we were talking about displays, yadda yadda yadda, and I said I want a good Augmented Reality overlay.
The AR overlay is coming. Google Glass is not it, but there are others working on true AR solutions – and this is going to be way better for seeing your information without having to stare at your laptop.
That is what I really want, the controllers with screens will just not be necessary when we have that. Of course, not everyone will have AR kit, but I suspect it’ll become pretty common.

ParticipantI suspect it’s easier for me to want one (though the NV does look a whole lot more awesome) since I am on a n00b controller and don’t have something really nice already.

Participanthah! I was thinking the same, Phil… and after party that runs really really REALLY after.

ParticipantIt’s actually plastered all over the net at this point, it’s probably not worth the time here as they’d be a little late with it.

ParticipantDon’t get me wrong… I want one, but I can’t say when I’ll be able to afford one.
deathy
ParticipantPretty sweet lookin’, but that price… phew.
