ParticipantI haven’t tried Ghetto Funk to Deep House yet, that’s something I should try. I know that Ghetto Funk and Electro Swing tend to work pretty well together, but it requires knowledge of the tracks because Ghetto Funk is a Breakbeat style and Electro Swing is a House style, so in some cases the beats do not play nicely together.

ParticipantYeah, the 201s have great sound for 20 bucks, I am quite happy with mine.

ParticipantHowdy, Greg, welcome!

Participanthahahahah. Yeah, good thing we finished up when we did, otherwise I would’ve turned into a pumpkin.
My set at Deadline was at 2am, so I have played later, but not terribly often.
You can actually dance pretty well to the styles I play, but it’s usually a more groove-style dancing.

ParticipantAh, yeah, if you already have spent time with VDJ, then it’s all good. Sorry. Just making that suggestion because purchasing your software is a pretty big commitment, you’re not likely to want to switch after you’ve made that investment, but it sounds like your decision is already informed.

ParticipantHere in the Netherlands, that 30% is because of VAT, as the VAT here manages to be just about equivalent to the value difference between the dollar and the euro.

ParticipantThat is one of the cases where I prefer VDJ’s handling of something over Traktor’s.

ParticipantI think all Tuomari was suggesting was that you can try it for free before you plop down hard cash.
VDJ allows you to play with a controller for 30 minutes at a time, then you do have to restart the program, but that is quite sufficient for getting a feel for it so you know if it fits your workflow.
You can actually use it indefinitely for free if you aren’t using a controller.

ParticipantYeah, it’s one I am using sparingly until I can do it without having to put special thought into it.

ParticipantWait… did an off-topic thread just get hijacked by an on-topic conversation? 😉

ParticipantI don’t know about ADE, I’ll have to look into that.
I play starting at 5pm, one hour at the end of the workday. I play Ghetto Funk, Nu-Funk and Electro Swing. I am planning to branch out a bit and try some other styles, but I’m trying not to overwhelm myself with too much new things to learn all at once.
