ParticipantA thought, though… a gaming laptop might be overkill for DJing (though it’s what I use), but if you also want to get into producing, then a gaming laptop becomes a better choice since production is MUCH more resource intensive than DJing.

ParticipantIf you don’t already have it, you should set up a presence on Mixcloud and post some of your mixes there.
There’s a section on the site here for posting links to your mixes, however don’t expect an outpouring of constructive criticism – you’ll maybe get a comment or two. I personally do listen to a lot of the mixes that get posted there, but only the ones from folks who actually participate in the forum.

ParticipantThough there are lossless compression options available, they won’t get you nearly as much compression.

ParticipantThat is an interesting experiment… but I don’t know the answer.

ParticipantDJ Vintage – Good to know. I don’t know the brand, just felt that the machine looked like a good portable street PA.

ParticipantFeel the beat y’all!
I have most definitely found that learning to DJ has done a lot for improving my skills as a producer.
Welcome, Cuz!

ParticipantI feel that the DJ-Tech Boombox from Namm 2015, which you can see mentioned here, looks like it would be a very street looking option, but it is really hard to find any information about it on the net.
DJ-Tech is a freaking HORRIBLE brand name, too many false results from Google… especially when the product is called “Boombox.”
Those guys could learn a thing or two about branding.

ParticipantDepends on the DJs, of course… the biggest multi-DJ team I can think of is C2C, but they are doing turntablism performances so it’s more like they’re playing instruments together. Their videos are well worth seeing.

ParticipantSome day, I will get around to improving the detection code in KeyFinder… open source is a good thing.

ParticipantYeah, for me, it definitely tells me that I will be fine with 320kpbs MP3s.
deathy
ParticipantYeah, keep your base version as high resolution as you can.
