ParticipantIf you want something professional looking, then you’re probably going to end up needing to learn to use a vector drawing program rather than a photo editing program. There’s a free/open source one called “Inkscape” that is pretty good.

ParticipantHere’s the first set played live with my new DJ software.
It’s based on an impromptu session at Deadline on the afternoon of the second day… somebody brought out a bluetooth speaker, so I threw together a Mario vs. Sonic playlist on my phone real quick and jumped between my favorites of the various remixes I have for those two.
You can tell the DJ software is still a prototype, and I again didn’t push it very hard – mostly because I love all of the tracks in this set so much that I really didn’t want to do much with ’em except let them play. It’s a bit rough in places, but this is a lot more open format than I usually tend to work.
This will probably be the last of the regular Friday Flavourites (in spite of how irregular they’ve become lately). It was a whole lot of fun, and I am very thankful for the opportunities it gave me.
I really hope you enjoy it!
Setlist:
Theory of N – Somebody Set Up Us the Bob-omb
AeroZ & Tepid – Green Lane Avenue
Benjamin Briggs – Fleeting Ecstasy
Air3s – Dat Disjointed Chemical
Rockos – Through the Castle
Kruai – Schizophrenic
djpretzel – Booster Tarantino

OverClocked Assembled – Time Traveller’s Delight
Estradasphere – Super Buck II
Portanexus – Two Futures
Teaganbear – Big Bad Koopa Dubstep
Beatdrop – Catapult
Nase – Bros with Dix
Arceace – Running to the Beat
DarkSim – Fore on the Floor
Paul John – Childhood (Act 2)deathy
ParticipantI use Ableton myself, although I am seriously considering giving Bitwig a try.
I can give you one argument in favor of Ableton over Logic, but it is not a strong argument, just worth considering – Logic is Mac only, and as an Apple product, it seems unlikely that this will ever change.
Ableton is also available on Windows, which does give you some broader options for your hardware… while a lot of folks swear by Apple hardware for DJing, if you are building a DESKTOP workstation, you’re gonna get WAY more bang-for-your-buck with a Windows box.
Bitwig even has a Linux version available, which is pretty appealing to me (as a hardcore geek).
Not a huge thing, but worth considering.

ParticipantI read it to mean he tried decreasing it by that range of value, which is why I asked my question just to clarify.

ParticipantI will probably release a video of it in action when it’s more production ready and less prototype… the software itself won’t be released, though. Don’t want to have to worry about user requests. heh

ParticipantIt is not clear from the OP… you say you decreased your latency, but did you try increasing it?

ParticipantWhile there is a lot of variation, a relatively normal number is approximately 20 tracks per hour. If I really tighten it up, I can reach about 75 tracks in an hour, but that’s not something I would want to do for an entire hour with an active audience – fine for a mixtape/promo, though.

ParticipantIt used to even be LEGAL to do that, but the laws have been shifted to protect an antiquated business model.
