MemberThis may be a dumb question, but I’ve never used a CDJ. If you want to use a usb memory drive, do you need one for each unit or are they somehow linked?

MemberFrustrating! I guess I can’t play this file. And I almost bought the vinyl copy too. Maybe I’ll go get the vinyl after all and rip the digital file myself…

MemberIf you buy 320kbps mp3s there wont be any issues of previously been degraded to 128kbps ;). Mp3s found by “other means” though, yeah, you could be screwed.
I may need to challenge this assertion. I just bought a track off Beatport and the minute I played it in Traktor something seemed wrong. I just ran the track through Spek and unless I am reading it wrong (likely), the track cuts off at 15khz. Should I be complaining to Beatport?

MemberWhile I mostly do EDM myself (I’m trying to branch out…), one of my favorite DJs is J Rocc. I got a chance to see him recently and he was using Serato and even playing files that were clearly ripped from his vinyl collection. He was changing songs far more rapidly than he could have been using records, some really swift hip hop/soul/funk mixing.
He played a lot instrumental hip hop which in many ways reminded me of EDM sets that don’t really focus on lyrics. Frankly, I just don’t get why DJs don’t like to play eclectic hip hop/soul/funk at bars.

MemberDoes anyone know anything about a case for the MC 3000? I like the better build quality, but if I can’t safely transport it, what’s the point?

MemberStarting to think I might get an X1. It could enable me to start experimenting with 4 decks and getting a free Traktor Pro with it seems like a great deal. Pretty small amount of money to spend. Maybe somewhere down the line I’ll replace my Mixtrack Pro with something more durable.
My only concern is mapping the Mixtrack to Traktor. I’m not a tech guy, but it does seem like there’s a lot of people doing it across the interwebs. Thanks for the advice, guys!

MemberThanks guys. When I said professional build, btw, I meant durability. The Mixtrack is all plastic and there are times when I worry that in the heat of the moment I may break off a knob or the crossfader. The most important thing for me though is indeed sound quality, which at times I’ve noticed isn’t so hot on the Mixtrack compared to some other controller DJs I’ve heard, even playing high quality digital files.
