ModeratorSure you want every drunk ….. on the floor to have your mobile phone number?
Think having them tweet their request would be wiser in that respect.
The thing is, if you actively seek requests, people are gonna assume and expect you to actually play most of them.
I think I would pass on the idea really.

ModeratorThe outgoing mapping (i.e. what the controller sends to the software) is usually pretty well documented and easily mappable. Where things have a tendency to go “wrong”, is where you need messages from the software to do something on your controller. My experience anyway.

ModeratorApparently audacity supports caf. And it definitely can convert audio files. And it is free.
Might want to check it out.

ModeratorYeah, true points there. The other half of that trap is depending too much on two identical keys always fitting together, which is definitely not always the case. Same solution, use your ears.
You could (if you are on a mac) try out pulselocker. You get to test entire songs in high quality and (in the basic form) have up to 100 tracks in your own “locker”. You can buy more locker spots or buy a track (everything $ 1,99 I think) to free up space.
They have all kinds of ways to search for new tracks. You can search by label, artist, remixer, whatever. Lot’s of interesting stuff going on there.

ModeratorOh yes, if you produce/mix/master your tracks on home speakers that are not up to the task, you are in for some fun on large systems. Pink noise, a good (calibrated) measuring microphone and a simple acoustic analysis tool and you can easily find out what the frequency curve of your listening environment is, approximately where your ears are. Worth a shot.
Especially with smaller monitor speakers (even if they are “studio” monitors, like the KRK Rokit 5s), they will generally not be able to deliver a solid enough bass. If you compensate for the lack of low in your monitors, in real life on a big system you will end up having too much low end.
As far as the moment goes, it is a bit of a trial and error, but you can actually just hard switch (with a kill switch if you have one ore the low knob) between beats. DJ Player, the iPad DJ app, actually does that for you if you want. You can set it to automatically switch basslines when your crossfader reaches halfway. I’ve played around with that and the result are actually pretty acceptable.
So don’t worry too much about it. Just try to make sure the total (low end) energy doesn’t change too much. Again, that is a matter of trial and error to find out the proper amount of in/out EQ-ing.

ModeratorGood job, sure you made some people happy!

ModeratorNot suited for club play, but the best song ever when I was young and in my room with a girl … Luther Vandross’ rendering of “Just The Way You Are”. Why impress a girl when you can have Luther do it for you :-).

How do you guys transport your DDJ-SX?
…
but i am not sure if its to heavy or big for transportation on a plane, a bag might be better but not when it comes to safety. Anybody here, who have experience with traveling by plane? I will go overseas, a 10 hour flight…
thank you!! 🙂I go flightcases, always. I agree with Terry about it being heavy, but at the airport the have luggage carts, you check it in and then take a cab to your final destination, right?
Not like you’ll be walking 3 miles with it.Let’s say you stick it in a bag. Airlines are getting stricter and stricter with regards to carry-on luggage (especially size). Controllers usually end up outside the accepted sizes. In which case you might end up handing it off at the gate, where it is (unceremoniously I might add) THROWN into the luggage compartment where they throw buggies and other too big carry-ons on top of it. Or it might slip off a stack to the tarmac.
Even if you are allowed to take it on board, it might not fit in the bin = previous scenario. Or if you do find a place, the next guy will forcefully jam his laptop bag or plastic airport shopping bag with two half gallon bottles of vodka on top of it (Heck if this don’t fit!). And there might be some foam protecting your buttons, but do you want to take the risk?
So for me, flightcase only. Tip there: if your controller is not fixed to the case (my MC6000 in a similar case with laptop platform is attached through it’s 19″ brackets) but just sits inside the foam, you might consider getting a right size piece of medium density foam that fits snug between your controller and the bottom of the laptop tray. It may press down slightly on the buttons, but not too much. This will hold the controller in place when it is placed upside down.

Just realized I don’t know how to do those smiley faces or anything on this forum…!?
: – ) works to get you 🙂 (leave out the spaces obviously, but if I did that all you’d get was a :), which would make it a mute point, eh?)
Not sure :-p gets you the stick your tongue out smiley though. Guess not.
Then again, the whole point about smiley’s is that you can make them with just ascii character set. Having them show up as nice graphics is a bit modernistic.
By the way they are officially called (ascii)emoticons.
So:
🙂 Happy
😉 Wink
😀 LOL (Laughing Out Loud)
🙁 Sad (very useful on this forum, especially if your post attracted Terry’s attention …. JUST KIDDING )

ModeratorLOL. Resident DJ didn’t use his brains, bought and paid for a license he didn’t need and now figures he can use it to leverage other witless DJs out of the place or at least have them pay for this unneeded and unwanted license too!.
Ha! He must not have heard of the power of Digital DJ Tips yet … s*ckah

ModeratorI wonder if the cost of upholding these ridiculous rules can actually be covered by the income they bring.
If not, effectively, we ourselves are paying (the difference between the income of the rules and the cost of the entire backoffice and upholding structure) to have those rules in place. I think if you were to ask the average citizen, they really couldn’t care less whether or not you play muxic in your fish and chips kitchen. And they most definitely would not be willing to PAY to keep you from playing it if you haven’t paid for it.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. This stuff can make you tear your hair out.
