ModeratorHi and welcome. Enjoy your time here!

ModeratorWell you definitely won’t get it off your CDJs, that is for sure. Laptop to the club beamer would be my suggestion.
Not sure how pre-timed stuff would work unless you are doing a totally preset gig.
If it’s a big club they will have experience with visuals for artists though, best bet would be to ask them.

ModeratorI wouldn’t DIY it … I have worked with professional floors and even those guys complains how hard it is to keep it all working properly.

ModeratorBeen years since I used Traktor, so bit rusty on the settings.
1) Pick the right audio device (driver) on the Audio Setup tab under “Audio Device” (duh!). This should probably be the Denon DJ ASIO Driver if I recall correctly (at least it was with my MC6000 I think).
2) On the Output Routing tab, select “External” for Mixing Mode (as you have).
3) Now set Output Deck A to (for example) channel 1 L and channel 1 R or Front L and Front R. You should have 4 options (or even more if you use a higher channel count sound card, but generally it will be 4 for a controller like the MC6000)
4) Set Output Deck B to something different! It could be marked as channel 2 L + R or Back L + R.If you have only 1 set (of stereo, thus L + R) of options, like you describe with front left/front right, something is wrong. Either the wrong device selected or the wrong device driver (not) installed. Probably the right driver can be found at the Denon site. You can also try the ASIO4All drivers from their site.
But you should have the option to choose from 4 (2 x a L+R combo), otherwise it won’t work properly.

ModeratorIt’s one of the reasons we love this forum ourselves. You can make mistakes (and apologize for them) and not get flamed and/or end in a “bidding war”. And no apologies were really necessary, however they are very welcome.
DJ Vintage
ModeratorAnd sorry about moving it and moving it back LOL. Guess I really shouldn’t be moderating at 07:00 on a Saturday morning on 4 1/2 hours of sleep.
DJ Vintage
ModeratorHuh? What? Us? … JUST KIDDING!
Thank you very much for your very kind words. It goes a long way to keeping me going 😀

ModeratorIn external mixer mode Traktor will send the sound to (if set up correctly) your controller as track 1 and track 2. Your controllers mixers will then have to do everything else, including master volume.
In internal mixer mode Traktor will send the master output from the software to the master output of your controller and the cue signal to the headphone output.
You will have to set what deck sound goes to what bit of sound card channels in external mixer mode.

ModeratorVery good question. There have been some posts in the past on the subject with some good tips. Use the search function and see what you can dig up from the depths of previous messages 😀

ModeratorHi Natalie, welcome to the forums. You came to the right place! You will find plenty of posts on all the issues you raised.
Thanks for the introduction and enjoy your time here.
DJ Vintage
ModeratorWell, laptop = serious, controller = reasonably serious (:-)), speakers … no comment LOL.
Indeed the best places for your mix is in the (here it comes) Mixes, Music & Shows forum.
Welcome to the forums and enjoy your time here.

ModeratorRental is certainly an option. In my neck of the woods I have seen some controllers around. Maybe one of your friends has a controller you can borrow/lease/rent for the night?
+1 for taking the time to make a final decision on new gear. If you look for posts on picking the right controller, you will find many on the subject of starting with your workflow and then working your way towards a shortlist of most suitable controllers for YOU that fit within your budget.
