ModeratorSorry m8, no experience yet with such a feature in RB. It does not have a batch option of pointing to files? I know some other DJ software does. You point to one file and then it goes and reads that folder and it’s subs to find the rest?

ModeratorAnd get them the iBook course by mr. Morse of course (hey, nice alliteration)

ModeratorHe would go TT’s to his soundcard input and the outputs would go to the controllers inputs. You’d treat it as regular external inputs. So none of the buttons on the controller would be operational. Essentially you’d be using it as just any other mixer.
There is no way to have two laptops attached to one controller (with the exception of the Pioneer DDJ-SZ/RZ and the new Denon MCX7000.
So you’d have two laptops side by side. One with Traktor to do DVS (again, without any extra features) and one with Serato that would have all the controller functions operational. If you set the inputs from the DVS sound card to channels 3 and 4, you can use all 4 channels simultaneously (2x DVS over Traktor, 2x regular Serato decks) and have the sampler.
The SX2 has no built-in FX, so even those are not there for DVS, with the exception of the filters.

ModeratorThat’s a bummer, but would explain faulty functioning 😀

ModeratorIf you google the XS600 and go to pictures. You will see some for a kit-deal, those include brackets. Guessing if you go to that site it might give you some more info. At least you will know what they look like.

ModeratorInternal mixer and setting the audio outputs right (one to master, the other to headphone cue). Sorted.
DJ Vintage
ModeratorYou can use the SX2 DVS with Traktor Scratch without any extra sound cards I think. You will have to switch laptops though.

ModeratorBPM is also something to be discussed with the organizer imho, as the BPM will (co)determine the walking pace of the models. My experience based on doing some shoe shows LOL.

ModeratorAlso some articles over on the main site I think.

ModeratorThere is no connection between the CDJ and the software other than the tone control (Time Control) to transfer the control commands. None of the other buttons (like cue, loop and such will work). Depending on the mapping and channel chosen you might be able to assign/trigger FX and Cues/Loops from the controller, but it will be two different control surfaces, making it rather unpractical imho.
So my previous statement was a bit too quick :-). It should have read “possible, but you’d have to switch back between CDJ (for jogwheels) and controller for everything else”.
On a broader scale, why would you not be able to mix different genres on the S8 (apart from the total lack of serious beatgridding of anything more exotic than computer generated beats)? Is it because you have no pitch sliders? I hear from the owners of the S8 that they get used to not having jogwheels and pitchfader and end up being able to do pretty much everything they could with the S4 in that regard. Clearly scratching is not gonna happen without jogs I think 😀

ModeratorChanged the link, now it should work. The old way prevented the post to show up in the forum.

ModeratorJust stop making those typos! (just kidding 😀 )
DJ Vintage
ModeratorAlso be advised that going DVS you will lose most of the software’s features. No pads, loops, cue points, fx and such. Effectively it will control the stop/play and speed (pitch) of your track and that is about it.
DJ Vintage
ModeratorYou can use the touch strip on the S8 for pitch control. I hear that it works pretty good once you get used to it. It might be a bigger learning curve to be without jogwheels though.

ModeratorFirst question: what software?
